Jamie H. Nashville, TN

I teach beginner to intermediate drums students who want to work up to more advanced playing.

About Jamie

Hello! I'm Jamie, and I love music! I started teaching drum lessons to kids around my neighborhood when I was in high school, and have kept doing so on-and-off for the past several years. I like to focus on giving each student a strong understanding of the basics of drums and drum set playing (theory, notation, rhythm, grooves, beats, etc.), and play to each students strengths and interests. I like to think of my self as a big, bearded man-child, so kids like me, and I like them. As for guitar, I am mostly self-taught. I took a beginner course in high school, and have been learning along the way on my own ever since. I play rhythm guitar, and I like to think that my drumming informs my guitar playing to a great extent. I am very groove-oriented, rhythm is what gets me going!

Ross R. Nashville, TN

When you have rhythm....who needs music? The drum is the most fun of all, no blowing, plucking, or bowing...just beat on it! There is literally rhythm everywhere at all times, and I can help you play along.

About Ross

As a graduate of University of Memphis (Bachelor of Music, composition/percussion, 1983), I have since been a professional musician for over thirty years, performing in 49 out of 50 United States, Canada, U.K., Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore, and on over 100 nationally released recordings. I believe everyone has music inside that needs to be nurtured and shared, so I began teaching contemporary keyboard lessons privately in upstate New York starting in 2010. In 2012 I was invited to be the main keyboard teacher at the Paul Green Rock Academy in Woodstock NY, whose namesake was the original founder of the School of Rock franchise, and within the first year helped to quadruple the student body, while guiding them through learning the demanding music of Yes, Queen, and Frank Zappa. Now ...

Excellent instructor, I highly recommend!!
Wil S. Nashville, TN

Drums have been such a wonderful supplement to my overall musicianship (piano primarily) that I continually practice my old rudiments and practice random percussion instruments on a daily basis. Even though I do not have a degree in drums, I teach them (and play) well.

I have been teaching drums for 8 years now, and have been fortunate enough to play in many different styles of bands, including alternative, jazz, marching (snare and quints), pop, country and more.

Students can expect rapid growth from my lessons as well as having a great time and enjoying music!

About Wil

Hello there! My name is Wil. Let me tell you a little about my background. I have studied piano extensively for 17 years and drums for 10+, taught since early high school (2005) and have a degree from Southern Methodist University (2013) in Music Composition, with focuses on jazz and classical piano. I also have played in different alternative, pop, rock, country bands throughout my career as a musician, both as a keyboardist and drummer. I offer any form of lessons, depending on what music style you are trying to play and learn - I have learned all types of music theory, and can play by ear as well! My diverse playing abilities aid in my full understanding and ability to convey music to any age, any style. I love teaching and giving back to the community through sharing and making ...

Aaron S. Nashville, TN

I've been teaching private drum/percussion students, college master classes, and adult workshops for close to 15 years. From very beginners to professional performers I love finding the right path to success with each student. In addition to technique and reading skills, I focus on grooves, styles, soloing, and most importantly, finding your own voice on the instrument. I use a method that teaches the student how to teach themselves, leading to a style of learning that is truly limitless!

About Aaron

I've been a professional touring and studio drummer & percussion for over 15 years and have played all over the world. I am also a commercial composer, and clinician. I have taught privately for almost 15 years, but also spent 8 years teaching after-school classes in New York City public schools. I helped run, manage, and taught for Maracatu NY, the first percussion school in North America focusing on northeastern Brazilian percussion for the better part of 6 years and in 2013, published a book titled "Maracatu for Drumset & Percussion" on Hal Leonard Publications. I am a graduate of The New School (NYC, Jazz Studies BFA), and the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy (MI, Classical & Contemporary Percussion performance). I have worked with students from 4 years old all the way to 70 and ...

Matthew N. Nashville, TN

Over 3 years of teaching experience

Curriculum emphasizes the development of student's snare drum fundamentals. Once a student has gained proficiency on one drum, those mechanics can be transformed into drum set navigation.

Reading music as well as playing by ear are both necessary skills for success on the drum set. When combined properly, a student can then improvise (play what comes to mind) tastefully.

Improving should always be fun! Motivation is everything.

Degree in Jazz Performance (B.M.) from Loyola University New Orleans- studied under New Orleans drumming legends Johnny Vidacovich and Wayne Maureau. 4 years of touring, recording, and writing experience with The Morrison Brothers Band. Writer/Co-Writer of several original songs recorded by major label recording artists and/or used on prime time national television programs.

Aaron T. Nashville, TN

I consider myself a coach rather than a teacher. Rhythm is about breathing, posture, and attitude! Play like you mean it.

I base a lot of my teaching in the essentials like rudiments, the Moelor hand technique, relaxed stick control, independence, feels etc. This approach allows the drumming muscles and mind to work with multiple styles.

I instruct using songs and exercises. I will guide you whatever way you choose to go!

About Aaron

Hi I'm Aaron! I started out playing drums to my brother's Led Zeppelin tapes and my dad's soul record collection. My first ever private lesson I remember learning some awesome pointers to play the song "I feel good" by James Brown. I remember that day I felt empowered as a player. Like I had what it takes. And I was given some knowledge of how to get me there. Every student has an ambition to play a certain way. To have a certain THING. I help guide them with skills and techniques to reach those goals. I'm not just a teacher, I'm a drum coach. Not only will you be learning the essentials, rudiments, hand technique, feel & timing, etc, But you will also be taking home a different perspective, posture, and attitude to playing the drums. I've toured and recorded for over 10 years

I actually had a drum instructor before I started with Aaron and ended up ditching him because Aaron was ten times better. I didn't feel like I was in a boring classroom lecture, I was hands-on and learning to play music that I loved. While learning all the basic techniques I also had the freedom to be myself in the process, which I'm a big fan of. Would recommend him to anyone! Great guy. 5 stars.
