Drums

I am a lifelong musician, originally self-taught on several instruments including drums/ percussion (primary) electric lead and acoustic guitar, 4 and 5 string bass, ukulele, piano/ keys, and voice. I am a recording artist and have released several eps singles and albums. I played all bands in high school and was the first chair in concert, pep band, and jazz band, and lead snare in marching band. I am well versed in reading and writing drum notation, guitar tab as well as treble and bass clef. 

Aside from my performance achievements, I owned and operated a brick-and-mortar music lesson school for 17 years in Sarasota, FL, and have literally taught thousands of music lessons on drums guitar, and bass to all ages and levels within multiple genres of music. I started this school in 2002 before school of rock was a movie, and over the years have had so many of my students get scholarships to college and are now playing professionally all over the country.

You can expect to have fun in our lessons while I keep it challenging. You will progress each week, attaining and surpassing your goals.
I have toured independently and with bands and am still an active professional musician playing drums and guitar several times a week throughout the Tampa Bay area.

We offer students and professionals opportunities to grow artistically and professionally. Students can learn have a music industry experience through the PAS Internship program or apply to receive a PAS scholarship or grant. Professionals can create new percussion programs or gain recognition through PAS grants and contests. Many individuals have significantly impacted the world of percussion through the Percussive Arts Society and they are recognized in our Hall of Fame and Awards pages.

Semper Fidelis Award

Created and sustained a local music lesson house where I taught drums, guitar, bass and rock band classes. Created programs, lesson plans and performance opportunities. Employed local musicians for other areas of study including jazz and classical piano, classical guitar and the recording arts. Provided mentorship and community service hours for students. I have taught thousands of music lessons and rock band classes over the past 20 plus years.

Hi! Music is my life and passion. I believe I was born to play drums and want to give my musical knowledge to as many people as I can.
Whether you want to learn how to play from scratch, get back into it after taking time off or anything in between I will show you what to do and how to do it correctly and musically keeping it fun and challenging. Reading rhythms from snare drum to full kit and even treble and bass clef. I have you covered..I've owned and operated my own school of rock for almost 2 decades, and can teach anyone how to play.  I am also a professional guitarist and bassist, so when you get to a certain level we can (and will) jam to your favorite songs. I can guide and consult you on the right gear to buy for your best progress and budget. Let's do this, I’m ready to rock!

Sandi's a great drum teacher and is specifically great at connecting young burgeoning musicians and having them learn to play well together. This was especially important for me in helping me be comfortable playing in band settings which was and is the most important aspect of being a musician for me.

Sandi is an incredible drummer and has an amazing ability to teach her skills to others. When I was first learning drums she helped me expand my catalogue of skills in a tailored series of lessons that helped me grow to my strengths while solidifying things I initially struggled with. I went home excited to practice the things we went over every time.

I just started taking lessons with Sandi this week. She was great and made it lots of fun! She made sure to gauge my skill level before I arrived, and prepared a fun first lesson for me. She is really skilled at telling how much challenge to give a student, which makes it fun for the student but also makes you want to practice and come back to learn more! Sandi is laid back, very approachable and super friendly. She’s a wealth of information on music, equipment, and even is helpful with booking classes through the website!

This is my Second attempt at learning guitar - my first attempt with a different teacher ended before I could strum a song.  Sandi’s teaching style makes learning guitar enjoyable.  She teaches chords and songs and introduces music theory as you progress.   Sandi also provides the encouragement needed to keep practicing even if you think you’ll never get there.

Sandi is a talented and passionate multi instrumentalist and teacher.  She has groomed many amazing musicians and I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to get into music or improve their current musical abilities,  from a beginner to professional musician.

Sandi makes taking up an instrument fun! She is very patient and encouraging and we go at my pace. She watches my hands to make sure my fingers are in the right positions and gives positive feedback while correcting me. 
I couldn’t recommend her more!!

Sandi is talented and fun to learn from.  She breaks complicated riffs down into approachable parts....you can learn by ear or reading music (I do both).

She can take you as far as you want to go (based on what you put into it)!  Pick out favorite song and let her help you learn to play it!

Sandi's a talented and passionate music instructor.  My son enjoyed her patient and creative teaching style and she did a great job blending serious, focused music instruction with fun during his lessons.  Her ability to play multiple instruments also inspired him to learn keyboards and explore different styles of music.  She loves what she does, and it shows.

As a parent of one of Sandi's students years ago I can easily recommend Sandi as an excellent instructor in all things guitar drums and more. My son did very well with Sandi and she helped him move forward in a visual performing arts program in high school and win a full tuition scholarship at Berklee College of Music in Boston Mass. Sandi's many musical talents passion and ability to easily connect with kids of all ages are just a few of the things I think of when I think of Sandi's qualities as an instructor in musical instruments. I will always be grateful for her space in my son's life.
