All levels are welcome! I have taught hundreds of absolute beginners and intermediate to advanced students as well. I like to think I get beginners started the "right" way- through learning to read music, gaining an understanding of basic musical concepts and building confidence through a progressive guitar method designed for each student. I use several guitar method books in my lessons (Mel Bay, Alfred, Guitar For The Small Fry) that we use depending on the student's age and prior musical/guitar experience, in addition to my own library of guitar materials.
For intermediate to advanced students, I specialize in single note soloing and improvisation, developing and building a chord vocabulary, developing good picking and fingerstyle technique, sight reading, ear training and applying music theory concepts to make one a better musician. I am well-versed in Rock, Progressive Rock, Blues, Folk, Fingerstyle, Classical, and Jazz guitar....let me help you get better while having a blast
I have been playing guitar for 30 years, starting with Rock/Blues before studying both Classical and Jazz guitar in college. I received my Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1995. I am currently a guitar teacher in the NW Chicago suburbs and in Chicago currently with 45+ students, teaching all ages, all levels and all styles. I have been teaching guitar and music off and on for the past 20+ years but in 2007 I decided to devote myself to teaching full time (yes, teaching guitar is my primary job!)...one of the best decisions I have ever made! To me, playing music is an incredibly rewarding experience. Itâs also a lot of fun! But no matter what your goals are in music, I have found, through many years of playing and teaching, that every musician ...
I utilize a few different method books depending on the level of the student and their interest. Also incorporate a lot of other songs and gear lessons to what the student wants to learn.

I have played the guitar for twenty years and have studied a wide variety of music including jazz, classical, folk, blues and rock. I’m skilled in acoustic, electric and classical styles of the guitar. I have an open mind about music and can appreciate any style or type. I have a firm background on music theory, so I am able to explain what I am teaching. I excelled in all my classes in college, music and Gen Eds, with a GPA over 3.75. I also have experience in teaching guitar or bass to students ranging from the ages of six to sixty six. I enjoy taking what I have learned and passing it on to someone else to experience. I believe this is one way you can leave your mark in music. I believe the experience I have playing in bands, and learning songs with my ability of having relative ...
I’ve been teaching professionally to all ages and levels for over 10 years throughout the Chicagoland area. I have been playing for about 19 years. Music is my passion. I even own and run an all ages music venue. Teaching is my biggest love and I love seeing students learn! There isn’t a style I will not teach. All music to me is fascinating:) *** Lesson Details *** All lessons start with the basics (assuming the student doesn’t already know them). This includes: reading music and chord diagrams (usually using a book for students under the age of 15), understanding rhythm, basic music theory, etc. Meanwhile, we apply this knowledge to songs of the student’s choice- this way they’re learning songs they like, and more about guitar and music at the same time. As time goes on we’ll get into ...

I come from a family of musicians and grew up with guitar and piano music in the house. I believe music is a gift to enjoy and develop. I began playing guitar and singing at the age of 13. I have played, taught and performed music since that time. I have worked with musicians from various levels throughout the years in many different genres such as country, pop, folk and contemporary Christian music. I have also done some studio work. I have also played coffee shops and open mics in the Chicago area. For the past 10 years I have been a member of my church worship team playing guitar and singing. I hold a bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Northeastern Illinois University. Presently I teach both privately and in an academic after school program in Palatine, Il. I am very ...
