I like giving my flute students a very well-rounded education. In terms of playing the flute, I strive to help my students improve their note-reading ability, their technical skill, their timing, and their musicality. Often in lessons, I teach students how to play scales, technical exercises, solo works (of various musical genres).
Also, for students that participate in ensembles such as band or orchestra, I am more than happy to help them with their ensemble music.

I have been teaching individual and group lessons for 12+ years. Many of my students have won trophies at the Granquist music competition and also play in local youth orchestras. My own youth string ensemble plays publicly at many popular local venues several times a year. I enjoy exposing my students to the finer points of being a professional musician such as the camaraderie, team work, creativity (creating harmonies, tailoring arrangements to fit student’s level) and of course, stage presence. I have a B.S. in Music Education. I have worked with several disabled students patiently guiding them, finding creative ways to make music accessible to them. I believe it is not about me or the parent, but the student. I work with children of all ages believing that we can find a way that works so that in a few months you see results. Anyone can learn to sing or play but not everyone is going to enjoy it without the right approach and teacher. Daniel, a former faculty member of Columbia College in Chicago, is a studio and live performance singer and musician based in Chicago. His teaching and performing experience spans three decades, and includes expertise in the studies of voice, guitar, piano, bass, drums, and trumpet, along with music theory, arranging, and composing. He is a Lincoln Academy Student Laureate who holds a BA in Music Composition, and has attended graduate courses in education at Roosevelt University and DePaul University in Chicago. Chicago based freelance saxophonist Corbin A. is a dynamic youthful voice amongst the Second City music scene. Originally from Decatur, IL, Corbin moved to Chicago in 2007 to attend DePaul University. There he studied improvisation privately with Mark Colby, Bob Palmieri, Ron Perrillo, and Kelly Sill, as well as composition with Tom Matta. These led to performances with Jeff Hamilton, Phil Woods, Tim Ries, Ira Sullivan, Jimmy Heath, John Fedchock, and Randy Brecker. After achieving his bachelor of music in 2011, Corbin was accepted to pursue a Master’s degree in Jazz Composition from DePaul.
