About Kate
I graduated from UTSA in the Fall of 2008, with a Bachelor of Music with a Vocal and Piano Emphasis. I have been teaching private piano and voice for 11+ years. I am fun, energetic, and patient. It brings me such joy to be able to teach children something I am so passionate about!

*** Lesson Details ***
Students need to practice 15 minutes a day. They are required to complete everything that is assigned to them that week, and be prepared for their lessons for the following week. A beginner usually in 3-6 months should be familiar with reading the basic treble and bass clef staff, be familiar with dynamic markings, beginning to understand basic music theory, tempo and minimal sight reading. Voice students study basic vocal technique, and learning to sing properly.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I usually provide the books after the paren
ts have paid for them. They should have their own instrument to work with.

*** Specialties ***

Excited to teach all levels and skill sets.

About Nicholas
I have been an actor for more the 35 years having worked Off-Broadway and Regionally.

I've taught acting for 18 years privately as well as at Brooklyn College, St Frances College, Marymount Manhattan College, and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.

"Nicholas is patient, insightful, friendly, and gets
results. After working with Nicholas, I felt great
about my auditions, got two callbacks, and landed
a touring job.
I would recommend him to any actor."

*Jonathan M.
Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey
Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival
Millbrook Playhouse

I am the Producing Artistic Director of the Hudson Warehouse and have been since its inception in 2004. Known as "The Other Free Shakespeare in the Park," we produce free classical theater in Riverside Park during the summer months and we hav
e an indoor season during the winter months as well.

"Mr. Martin-Smith has been my director, coach and
mentor in productions and the classroom. His patience,
insight and his passion excites students, and makes
them feel safe and supported enough to take risks."

*Joseph H.
Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey
Pearl Theater Company
York Theater Company
Hudson Warehouse

*** Teaching Methods ***
I foster a safe, relaxed and engaging environment to explore truthful human behavior on stage.

The objective is 'the truth' to which end there is no one technique. Actors are encouraged to find their own tools and to draw from elements of different practices to discover a technique that works best for them as individuals.

I studied the methods of Constantin Stanislavski for acting with Sergei Pomerov of the Moscow Circus Theater. I am classically trained as well.

I work primarily as a guide to help navigate the way and to interpret ‘the signs.' I teach the lesson in the moment and address the challenges of both the beginner and the experienced actor.

***Classical Work***
My basic approach to classical work focuses primarily on the connection of the breath with the feeling on the word.

This is the foundation on which you can then build. From the ‘words’ to the ‘thoughts’ to entire ‘passages’ of text, as you work and explore, the richness of the playwright’s words comes to life. Your own unique emotional life is allowed to come through the text and you are able to fully embody the role.

*** Teaching Levels and Focuses ***
*Beginning Actors
-Work With Classical Text.
-Vocal Work.
-"Moment to Moment" Work.
-"Sense Memory" Work.

*Experienced Actors
-In depth Classical Text Analysis.
-Connecting to the Text.
-Audition Technique
-Monologue Coaching

I was always afraid I couldn't learn Shakespeare, but Nicholas explained the intent on the word, the intent on the line. Soon, I was so caught up in the meaning of the lines and the story I was telling in that moment that I was able to engage in the role, smoothly, without worrying that I was performing Shakespeare. He broke it down so I could understand it, and then feel confident doing it. Highly recommend!

Nicholas knows Shakespeare and classical work. He really works with the text and helps an actor really understand the emotions in the scene, through the text. I've gotten so much out of his teaching and so have many of my friends. If you have an audition or play coming up, he's the one to get you ready for it! My friend nailed his audition, got the gig, all through his work with Nicholas. I've learned so much as an actor from Nicholas.

I've been teaching acting for the past 6 years. My curriculum involves the basics of listening and responding, script analysis (crafting), and learning how to "wed" ones personal experiences to the text. Most actors work from a place of fear. I believe it is that fear that keeps most actors from unlocking their greatness. Together we will conquer your fears so that we can release the greatness that is within you for every role, every time.

About Carlton
A multifaceted and well rounded acting teacher, I mix equal parts humor and motivation with a breadth of knowledge that guarantees to help ANY client reach their personal goals.

I received my B.F.A. in Theater from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, en route to being awarded the prestigious Ron Howard Foundation Scholarship. I've performed in various theater productions regionally and internationally while also Guest Starring on NBC's Law & Order: SVU, CBS' Blue Bloods, ABC's Castle, and TNT's Major Crimes.

As a Voice Over artist, my award nominated vocal talents have been featured on GMA's Summer Concert Series for the past 4 years. I boost a 75% audition to booking ratio, having booked over 40 voice overs in 2014 alone.

I tailor each lesson to the actor. I create a safe space to play and learn. I empower and uplift each student so they approach the work with excitement instead of fear. Together, we create realistic goals for the actor's career. We may work on auditions, self tapes, scenes, anything and everything the actor is struggling with.

I help each student analyze the script so they can make strong choices that are unique to their acting talents.

About Kimberly
If you cannot find an available time on my calendar that fits your schedule, please click the "ask Kimberly a question" button above with days and times that work for you. I will do my best to find a time that works for both of us!

I am a trained actress in my late 20's. I have experience coaching many professional working actors. I have worked on audition sides for TV (Law & Order, Narcos, pilots during pilot season, etc) independent films, big budget studio films, web series, off broadway plays, monologues, and anything in between with my students! I teach both comedic & dramatic acting and stand up comedy.

I have been trained by exceptional teachers in the following: Linklater (voice), Williamson (movement), film/tv & theater, script analysis, theater & film history, cold reading, monologue, stand-up comedy, etc. I have also bee
n mentored by the legendary standup comedian Rick Crom.

I can also work with the actor on the business aspect of acting, which is very important to your acting career: how can I get the best headshot?, what things should I be doing everyday to reach my acting goals (some may not even be acting!)?, how do I get in front of this specific casting director?, what events/workshops should I be attending?, etc. We can go over all that plus how to get through personal blocks, fear-related patterns, and other things that may be holding you back from being the best artist you can be!

I believe training is so important to a working actor & comedian so congrats on taking the first step towards a successful, exciting career! I can't wait to share my love of acting and comedy with you!

I have a self tape set-up with a backdrop, professional lighting & tripod. I am happy to be your reader & coach as we film your audition, scene or stand up set. We can use this as a tool to improve or film a self tape audition. We can also chose your best take together.

Using a combination of the Adler and Meisner Methods along with my own techniques I not only teach acting from beginner to advanced, I teach audition methods and even brand you, the student, so you know the best types of parts for your skills! As your skills grow, we reset your brand to give you the best chance to score great parts! Actors are always learning so I can help everyone!

About Kim
Hi, my name is Kim but over the past 9 years of training performers in my academy (The Corcoran Academy of Fine Arts) I've become known to my "kids" as Mama L. Having been on stage performing for 50 years has given me the upper hand in how to train the next generation of performers! I love what I do and, judging by the success of my students, I'd say I'm very good at it! Please check out my photo gallery of past and present students. My students consistently score major roles in their school productions and I make sure I'm there to cheer them on!

My vocal training covers both classic voice and musical theatre. My acting lessons combine Adler, Meisner and my own observational technique. I have a sure fire method of preparation for auditions that, if followed completely, has never failed me or my students.

Why should you come
to me? Because I'll take you right where you are and grow your skills on YOUR terms! Your lessons are different than other student's lessons because they're designed to suit YOU! You can't help but catch my excitement during your lesson because we have so much fun! I'm looking forward to seeing you soon!

Ms.Lesso (or Momma L as we fondly call her) is an amazing instructor! She has so much experience in the performing arts and has a way with teaching that makes technique more understandable. She just really brings out your inner performer. I was already a fair singer before I joined her academy, but after being with her for less than a year, I had improved so much! Now, after +3 years with her, I nearly have a 4 octave range and we are working to get me to the full 4. She is just a great instructor and she makes you feel like part of her family.

A current BFA Acting student at Montclair State University (transfer from University of the Arts) willing to help fellow actors prepare for auditions, master Shakespeare, and explore several acting techniques from Meisner to Improv, classics to contemporary, Suzuki to Linklater- my goal is to provide a toolbox approach to acting personalized for each student and their needs.

Looking for college audition coach? I've been through that pesky audition process (twice! BFA transfers are crazy) and would love to spend the summer helping students prepare for university auditions this fall for both musical theatre and acting.

About Annelise
BFA audition season is coming up! Looking for an audition coach for acting or musical theatre? I'd be happy to help! Straight from the horse's mouth, I'll give you the inside information on what goes on in the audition room and how to get the most out of your time in front of the panel.

I'm an actor/musician born and raised in Las Vegas home for the summer before my final year at Montclair State University as a BFA Acting student. I've been studying music since six years old and have been doing acting and musical theatre for 7 years alongside directing, writing, voice tutoring, and composing.

Acting lessons available for a toolbox approach including Meisner, Uta Hagen, Improv, Stanislavski, Practical Aesthetics, and classics along with the voice work of Skinner and Linklater and movement technique of Laban and Suzuki. Lessons are t
otally personalized for the needs of the actor and can range from Shakespeare to contemporary scene study with a focus on specificity, clarity, vulnerability, and sincerity.

I teach singers in all genres, though I have the most experience in MT, folk, and pop. My goal is to help students not only learn to sing with the utmost vulnerability and honesty, but to ensure that they can do so while maintaining safe technique through breathing and relaxation. I work hard to eliminate affectations and habits to find the most uninhibited and expressive that the student's voice has to offer. MT singers will also focus largely on acting and finding authenticity within the suspended reality of song.

Lessons are tailored to the music taste and needs of the student and lesson plans are completely individualized to ensure the student is learning at growing at whatever pace suits their path while making sure they're still having fun and making art. If the student is interested in writing their own music, good news! I'm always willing to help fellow songwriters with composition.

I also offer lessons to child singers and actors as I love nothing more than seeing kid artists. Children's voice lessons are largely based in Musical Theatre/classics, focusing on ear training, sheet music, phrasing, rhythms, and breathing while children's acting lessons are based largely in classic/contemporary film and theatre, focusing on projection, clarity, commitment, and confidence.

A firm believer that anyone can act and anyone can sing- willing to teach anyone who doesn't already know more than I do!
