I am an experienced classical violin teacher who has been teaching for 5 years from ages 5-16, beginner to advanced! I focus heavily on technique and foundations so the student has a well rounded music education and confidence in the violin that they can take with them forever. For beginners I use the Suzuki books, I Can Read Music series, String Builder series and Winning Rhythms. For more advanced violinists I use the Introduction to the Positions series and etude books such as Wohlfahrt and Kreuzer.

The bass guitar doesn't get a lot of love. That's unfortunate, because playing bass is an incredible feeling. It's a foundational instrument and bringing that sense of stability to a song can make it go from sounding okay to sounding like real music you hear on the radio.

My bass students are taught the foundational skills and techniques, but also the rhythm and feel of playing bass. An instrument with a fairly low barrier to entry, bass is one of the best ways to get playing quickly. Will you pick up the bass today?

I am a firm believer that anyone can learn how to play an instrument and enjoy doing so. Although my teaching style is grounded in establishing a foundation of strong technique, I am also well aware that not every student is going to enjoy or want to play classical music, and that's okay! My goal is to help my students establish a relationship with their instrument and music in general, so they are able to grow and develop in the direction they want.

Basic understanding of the ukulele, general music theory, studying chords to build songs

For beginners: we will focus on learning the keyboard, note/sightreading, scales, arpeggios and simple etudes (Burgmuller, Czerny, Kabalevsky) and beginning repertoire.
