Classic singing technique and good performance skills are at the heart of what I teach. The best singers on Broadway develop a unique sound and style that requires both good singing technique and the ability to put feeling and emotion into your performance. Lessons start with exercises to improve breath control to support your voice and ear training to help you sing on key. Progressive vocal exercises will help you develop the quality of your voice and increase your range to make it easier to hit those high notes. You will also do exercises to improve your diction. As you develop your performing skills you will learn how to using phrasing to put feeling into the words and connect with the audience. As your voice develops you will build a repertoire of Broadway-style music that you can use for auditions.

Jason’s tenor voice has been heard on countless advertising campaigns and video games.
He was a founding member of the collegiate a cappella group, The University of Rochester Midnight Ramblers, and for several years, sang with Manhattan-based contemporary a cappella groups Invisible Men and Dobsonfly (heard in the film “The Rules of Attraction”).
A musician in his own right, he has studied percussion, piano, musicology, theory and composition, and maintains a collection of unusual instruments from his travels abroad.
About Jason
My teaching approach: I'll help you figure out your musical goals, and customize a lesson plan to get you there (ex: performance technique, music theory, music business coaching, musicology, exploring new musical genres, song selection and interpretation).

Broadway is more vocally and stylistically demanding today than it has ever been. Musicals like A Gentleman's Guide To Love & Murder, Chicago, Wicked and Rent all require the singer/actor to have the vocal versatility to audition for as many roles as possible.
Whether you’re a seasoned professional singer/actor looking to expand your repertoire, or an amateur singer/actor who wants to sing more effectively, studying with Ms. Christine will give you an understanding of Broadway Singing.
My course will develop your technique and skills in Broadway singing so that you'll be comfortable with almost any audition you may encounter.

There are so many good things I could say about Arlys. I came to her with only a few weeks to prepare for an audition and with no previous lesson experience. In only the four and a half hours she taught me, I feel like it made a huge difference. She has wonderful teaching techniques that she learned professionally, but she's also wonderful at learning along the way. She work with you and suddenly there's a whole new way she finds to teach you. She seems to learn from every lesson she teaches and is so obviously enthusiastic about what she does. Even outside of our lessons, she did a bit of research into my audition song to try and find a way to make it easier to learn. She even called me after my audition to see how it went.
Her wonderful teaching skills aside, she's also great at making you feel comfortable. I went to her full of anxiety and within the first few minutes I was immediately comfortable around her. She also was able to teach me an amazing meditation technique that's not only calming but also makes you more alert, something none of my therapists for my anxiety were able to do.
In short: She knows what she's doing, she learns along the way, she's so easy to relax around, and she shows a great deal of care for her students."
