I have a long track record of teaching in the realm of acoustic music. Beginning in 2010 (while living in Rhode Island) I decided to share my knowledge of stringed instruments as a traveling music teacher. Through the years of performing in various bluegrass outfits, I have always had students eager to learn how to begin or advance their skills in stringed instruments through one on one lessons, coaching, and jamming with others. During the 2015-2016 school year I held the position of Music Therapist In Residence at the CITE School in Providence, RI working with developmentally challenged and disabled students, which allowed me greater insight into different coaching and music education techniques. I am currently endorsed by Ear Trumpet Labs of Portland, OR and The Deering Banjo Company.
If you're looking to start fresh, brush up, or get some coaching/advice on advanced improvisation techniques on the banjo, we can get it done together! If you're ready to start down the road and ...

"Lisa is the best!!! I came to her as a complete beginner, having tried both guitar and piano but always having been drawn to electric & upright bass, and a bit daunted on how to jump in. She was the perfect person to start with - warm, supportive, and encouraging. She is a super badass musician and the way she plays is inspiring! But more importantly, she knows how to make whatever we're learning interesting and fun. From Peter Gabriel songs to Pink Floyd to Gershwin, I can't recommend her enough."

"Dr. Norman L. teaches via skype, he is in LA and my son is on the east coast. I choose Norman as a teacher for my son due to his experience and credentials. He is both an educator and a musician. Norman received 5 stars due to his personality, knowledge and teaching methods. My son enjoys his lesson because the teacher adapts his teaching style to accommodate my son's current string bass skill level, playing ability and his learning style. Alex recommends Dr. Norman L. for a teacher for any string bass player."

"Ms. Fleming is an excellent teacher, patient, encouraging, and working from a
broad range of experience. As a teacher myself (English), I really appreciate those qualities. Her experience across multiple instruments and music genres is especially appealing to me, as I play several instruments and am interested in many types of music. She gives me hope that I can develop some facility on
upright bass, a dream I have had since I was a boy. (Note: Her insights into how to practice are really helpful.)"
