About Kevin
I have had a fairly diverse musical background, including playing with bands and orchestras, as well as participating in choral groups and opera. I have a master's degree in music performance for wind conducting, and a bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis on piano performance.

I have taught private lessons for several years now and I love every moment with my students! I have a real passion for sharing my knowledge and experience with others, both failures and successes. I believe everyone has creative potential, and I believe music is a real universal art form that anyone can tap into if they want. Above all, making and creating music should also be fun!

*** Lesson Details ***
I try to keep my lessons professional but comfortable too. I don't yell at students for messing up or anything like that. I usually have an agenda b
ut am willing to adjust and compromise if the situation dictates. If you don't have a curriculum in mind, I like Alfred's piano courses, but will do my best to find one that fits you as a student best. My initial goals are to make sure the basics of reading music and performing are set so that no matter what musical avenue you want to pursue, you will be successful. I do specialize in classical music but enjoy creating and playing in other genres as well.

I now also offer lessons online, as well as tutoring in most math areas!

***CANCELLATION POLICY***
I kindly ask for 24 hour notice whenever possible if a lesson is going to be missed. Generally speaking, if I don't hear from a student and their lesson time passes I will mark the lesson as missed, but I am also usually more than willing to make up the lesson at a later time.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a piano keyboard at my home.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I would expect students to have their own instruments as needed, as well as music paper, pencils, etc. I may be able to provide some of those materials on occasion as well as some books/recordings, but will by and large expect students to purchase those for themselves.

*** Specialties ***
I am much more familiar with classical styles and Broadway. My music writing style tends to be somewhere between neo-classical and avant-garde.

Lipeng is very patient and encouraging for my beginner 11-year-old, using the video format well to demonstrate the songs and watch the student. She has been a good fit for a player who is motivated to improve but can complain a little bit about practicing everyday.

Very first lesson with Lipeng and I enjoyed it so very much. Lipeng encourages to listen to the music and then accentuate the notes to make it music, not to simply play them.

I am a native Japanese speaker with a Japanese teaching credential. All ages and levels are welcomed! Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. I am also qualified to tutor graduate students (Master’s and PhD) doing their thesis.
I believe when we learn other languages, it is important to learn their culture, history, etc. for better understanding. I’ve learned Japanese drums, how to wear Kimono, Tea and flower ceremonies so that we can explore Japanese culture more than just learning the language!

Bio:
I have been in love with language my whole life. This led to learning and studying English for the past 30 years. In learning English I rediscovered my love of Japanese language as well. I would like to share my enthusiasm for Japanese language with you.

I grew up in a family in which everyone was a t
eacher including my grandmothers, grandfather, aunts, uncle, and my parents. My family inspired me to become an educator as well where I would have the chance to make a difference in students' educational, social, and emotional well-being. I earned my teaching credential from Kochi Women's University in Japan and a Master's in Intercultural communication from Kobe University, Japan.

During graduate school days, I worked as a tutor for international Master's and PhD students to assist them on their theses in Japanese. After I moved to Los Angeles, I started my career in the corporate world, and have worked in the US, Canada and Japan for last 15 years. In Canada, I taught Classic Japanese and Chinese Poetry at Toronto Japanese School as a high school teacher.

About Veronica
Teaching language is a passion, not only a profession. When you teach language you have to engage students in the culture, to spark motivation and broaden horizons, to promote diversity and tolerance.
My bachelors is in Psychology from my country of origin, but coming to this country I began working in language when looking for bilingual opportunities for my own children. Not being able to find the right person I decided to study so I could provide the best learning experience to my own children and that became my new career more than fifteen years ago.
I have traveled through Latin America and gained cultural and academic knowledge. I have owned a language program for ten years and trained and supervised hundreds of language teachers and enjoyed thousands of young and old students' language accomplishments.
I have also had the honor
and the privilege of teaching language to the military for almost eight years, and developing curriculum for all levels and all ages.
Every student is a new opportunity to inspire and improve a life. I look forward to that every day.

I'm an experienced, creative, funny, and motivated ESL/EFL teacher who enjoys helping busy adults learn English and accomplish their goals. You bring the commitment and I'll bring well-planned lessons and creative energy to make your time productive and enjoyable.

You and I will tailor lessons to your English language level, interests and needs. But most importantly, I'll create a safe space for you to explore speaking a new language, challenge yourself, make mistakes, and become confident with how you communicate in English.

I am a writer, artist, photographer, and marketing communications professional, and can add activities for students interested in vocabulary and skills for these fields. You’ll also find that I enjoy conversations about culture and heritage, and especially food!

Most of all, I respect your time and your ex
perience as an adult learner. You most likely have a job, a family, strong experience in your native country, and a lot to learn in your new home—and all of this can be overwhelming. I will always keep these in mind, make your lessons productive, bring a lot of humor, and show the greatest respect for your desire to learn and accomplish your dreams.

I welcome this opportunity to highly recommend Jim K. for this teaching position. I've known Jim for twenty six years and in that time I've gotten to know him as a loyal friend, as we shared family and life experiences. As a talented and creative artist, Jim brings these skills to his extensive use of computer and visual technology. As well as being a visual artist, Jim is also a skilled and creative writer with extensive verbal and communication skills. This is evident in his many written descriptions of visual art and our many discussions about art and technology. His extensive knowledge of art is the result of his extensive travel and his passion for beauty in all that he does. His enthusiasm is evident whenever he shares new ideas or new life goals.
Always quick to laugh and with a positive attitude, it's a pleasure to share his company.
Jim is sincere, talented, creative, caring, intelligent, curious, articulate, with strong problem solving skills. He will be an asset to any educational endeavor.

Jim is a great teacher for many reasons, but first and foremost, is his patience and understanding. Instead of pointing you in the right direction, he takes you by the hand and shows you the way. He also has a sense of humor, so mistakes turn into real opportunities to learn. He is a true asset to anyone looking to learn.

He can make references and connections between words in different languages that are very helpful.
A great since of humor, and a wonderful wit with words will keep you laughing and make it fun to learn.
I strongly recommend Jim as a teacher.
