Learn the basics of running Ableton, including how to record audio, MIDI, I/O, using the effects section, triggering audio clips and loops, etc.
Having an ear for music of all styles and genres, I had an interest in playing music and instruments at a very young age. At just 5 years old, I took my first piano lesson. I studied with that piano teacher for another 10 years, working on technique, theory and classical music, including playing piano recitals as a performer. I practiced piano to become a solo classical musician. Then in middle school, I joined the symphonic band where I was exposed and learned to play instruments in the percussion section, including drums, xylophone and marimba, and other instruments. At the same time, I joined the middle school jazz band. This was my first transition both as a piano player and musician into a new genre of music and playing. Needless to say, I fell in love with the music. In 2005, I auditioned and was the only pianist accepted into the c
lassical piano department in the School of the Arts High School of San Francisco. There I went through rigorous classical training and learned vast amounts of repertoire. At the same time, I still studied and played jazz in the high school Big Band, Latin Jazz band and small jazz combo. It was during this time that I deeply focused on not only Jazz music and improvisation, but also Salsa, Latin Jazz, R&B, Funk, Pop. Basically all other forms and styles of music. I learned what it means to be in a band and how to make an ensemble sound good and to make an audience like and cheer for the music. I was lucky to have bands and musicians to play with all around San Francisco, including jazz festivals.
After graduating as the only student to study in the Piano department for 4 years in my graduating class, I was accepted with scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston. I started my first semester in 2009, and declared a Piano Performance and Jazz Composition Dual Major in 2010. At Berklee, I studied under amazing piano teachers to focus on my jazz playing and technique and repertoire. Some of the classes I took included music theory, ear training, composition and arranging, scoring and analysis, even guitar and bass labs. As well, I was the main piano player for the Berklee Salsa Ensemble for 3 straight years. I was also involved with bands and playing recitals, shows, clubs, outdoors and indoor venues throughout Boston and Massachusetts. I had the honor of being hired by Berklee to travel and play along with other selected students at the Carnaval de Barranquilla honoring Joe Arroyo. This was the most memorable musical experience for me yet, as I played along great musicians for hundreds of people in a theater, including Joe Arroyo sharing the stage with the band.
All of this experience and training is what I bring to my lessons and tutoring sessions. I teach my students how to prepare themselves for any kind of musical situation, from music theory and technique, to piano playing and repertoire, and understanding and playing all kinds of styles and genres of music. Most of all, I teach my students to be unique in their musical endeavors and to bring out their own voice through music. And the most important element of all, the happiness and joy it brings to the students and others.
*** Lesson Details *** In my piano and music lessons, you will be learning music theory, proper piano technique, ear training, sight reading, and repertoire. It will be up to the student to determine what genre and style of music they want to learn and study. It can be anything from classical music, jazz, or even Funk and R&B music and more. My students will also develop an ear, meaning that instead of only focusing on written material and music in sheet music format, they will learn to hear intervals and chords, and also play or sing back melodies.
My teaching style is very easy to get along with. I don't pressure or push students by being too strict. When learning music, being hard and strict gets the student nowhere. I approach the student with listening and understanding. It's my job to see the students advantages and keep them strong, as well as working on bringing up weaknesses and what's needed to make the student excel in both playing technique, and all other musical aspects.
When it comes to proper piano technique, I always teach my students with "Hanon, the Virtuoso Pianist in sixty excercises", and "Scales, Chords & Arpeggios" by James Bastien. After 3-6 months as my student, you will progress in your technique skills, ear training, repertoire and memorization

I have used Ableton Live for over ten years. I use it for recording, producing, and live performance. There are many Ableton controllers that I am familiar with such as the Push, Push, APC40, and Launchpad. My education comes from a self taught practice, as well as having a Music Technology B.A. from Cal State San Bernardino.

Want to learn how to play bass ? Maybe your looking to up your production chops on Ableton? Maybe your curious to learn more about music theory or musicianship? Hello My name is Loren, I have a Bachelors of Arts in Music Studies with an emphasis in Contrabass. I play and am able to perform on Contrabass, Elec. Bass, and Piano. I am well versed in a variety of music including jazz, classical, world music, and more. I enjoy discussing and teaching music and hope to share my passion with you. I enjoy incorporating technology into music via Digital Audio Workstations, Audio Interfaces, and Recording technology. I am here to help expand your knowledge and facility of music in general!
The main goal of an Ableton class is to be able to effectively use all the tools that you are given to achieve your specific goal. Each student will have a different idea of what they want to create with this software, and its really important to be able to remove the technical obstacles and get straight to the creating. I will enable each student to be able to better visualize their projects, and I will train their ears to be able to better listen to sound such that they can understand the specifics behind creative decisions. As a producer you have to take both microscopic and macroscopic views when it comes to a piece of music, understanding how both a small sound can affect the progression of a story though music, and how the story itself unfolds over time. This can all be done through practical training in Ableton Live.
I am a professional pianist/keyboardist, songwriter, and recording artist. I graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Arts in Music & Technology.
With my diverse background in both the technical and creative arts, I will be able to help build a foundation of musical knowledge that will allow students to explore areas from theory & performance to production and innovation, all with a musical focus.
I teach piano students of all different ages and experience levels. My background is mainly in Carnatic (South Indian classical) music, which I have been playing on the keyboard for 15 years now, but I have been playing and performing jazz piano for the past 8 years as well. I have been performing with my band, "In the Works" for the past 2 years in the NYC area, and I also play with another band that performs oft
en in the tristate area, so I have a lot of experience with live shows that I can also offer. I specialize in teaching students to read and play contemporary & jazz music using chord sheets, but more importantly, I can help you attain a deeper level of understanding of the music that most piques your interest, allowing you to tackle any challenging
My teaching style combines theory, piano, composition, and production to give students a more comprehensive understanding of music and how they can find their voice within it. My personal passion is contemporary music but I feeI that any musician can benefit from guided study, analysis, and practice in all different genres and styles of art. Making these connections is where I feel I have the most impact with my students, and I look forward to meeting and growing as musicians together!

In March of 2019, my career took off by signing my debut single to Black Hole Recordings. Since then, I have seen tremendous and continued success with my music and hope to help apply all that I have learned in the industry to my students as well.
My first session with Jarod was great! Lots of great information, very focused session, and great experience in a very well put together studio. Jarod was also very welcoming and open to conversing about personal manners that influence my music experience. Even after our first session, I feel much more confident in mixing practices which I had not before. Looking forward to our future meeting and I would highly recommend Jarod as an instructor for anyone looking to improve their knowledge and practices in regard to production and mixing/mastering!

I’ve worked with Jarod over the past few months, and I can unconditionally say that he’s the real deal. He has an excellent command of the entire music production process and how to navigate the music industry; not surprisingly he’s now a signed artist. Unlike a lot of instructors, Jarod is a naturally gifted mentor who actually takes time to figure out and plan out the best way forward. He is willing to share any insight and experience he has with his students. If you’re thinking about learning music production, Jarod is the perfect mentor to help you get to the next level.
Demystify the process of electronic music production. I will help you more accurately and more efficiently get the ideas in your head out through the speakers.
My name is Mark Farry. I am a DJ, music producer, and sound healer based in Portland, OR. I have been producing electronic music for 12 years and DJing actively for 3 years.
My history includes: operating a music blog in 2008 to ride the wave of electronic music's popularization, co-founding an online community of house music enthusiasts in 2015, hosting a weekly radio show at KPSU in 2016, launching a podcast focusing on storytelling through melodic house & techno music, and more recently organizing music festivals in the PNW region. I have played in low-light bars and on elaborate festival stages. I have written music to dance wildly to and music to meditate calmly to. I have played music to friends at home and I have played music to strangers in a foreign country. I seek to share the insights I have gained along my journey.
Mark is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and friendly to work with. He has been helping me mix music in Ableton and I am very excited about what we have created. Mark is quite articulate about music which allows us to thoroughly examine the different sounds and elements in a song to better understand what we like and what could be improved upon. I recommend him as a teacher to students of all ability levels and am excited for us to continue working together.

Hello, my name is Corey and I'm a music mentor currently offering private music production lessons in Ableton Live and Logic Pro X! I've been playing music for 15 years, was a drummer for multiple bands, played in jazz band at moorpark college for a bit until I eventually started investing in my own equipment and recording the local bands. Since then I have racked up 10 years of experience with DAWS and have taken courses through Berklee School of Music as well as completing multiple music production programs including Icon Collective and have had several very knowledgable mentors that have worked in the field. I currently work with W.A. Productions making sample packs and educational content and have worked in the past with Academy.fm (Cymatics).
I specialize in most styles of EDM, Trap/Rap, and can also work with Rock and Metal as that
was my main genre for about 7 years. Students that decide to work with me can expect to gain a much deeper understanding of the DAW, how to squeeze the most potential from the tools inside of it, and how to get you mixes and masters up to a level where they compete with commercial tracks. I also can help you quickly broaden your understanding of sound design and synthesis, and get you making your own quality samples in no time. From there if you feel you need to take it further, I can show you how to put it all together and create your own tracks from scratch that really have a signature sound to them, and show you how to take those tracks and show them to the world!
Want to learn how to create industry quality music on your laptop using Ableton and other fun free online tools? Interested in curating your own unique sounds while also drawing inspiration from tracks being played today? My teaching approach will be tailored to your experience level to help you develop as an artist, and eventually be able to produce, mix, and master your own tracks. I believe that you learn the most when you are in the driving seat, and for that reason YOU will guide the way as we make a track together! I will help and give you creative suggestions along the way, it can really be a great time. Please contact me if you think I may be a good match as your instructor and mentor.
Hello! Little bit about me, I am a very energetic and uplifting individual who always loves to get creative and make unique moments. I studied Recording Arts and Electrical Engineering at Loyola Marymount University and taught Recording Arts students throughout my whole academic career. I am currently working at Universal Audio working in the hardware engineering department. I think that this is something unique about myself as an instructor, I not only draw from creative influence, but also from technical influence. I find this to be a good blend of attributes as a music producer and engineer. Please contact me if you ever want to set something up with me!

No matter you're experience level I can't recommend learning from Matt enough. I leave every lesson with so much more knowledge than before that I can immediately start applying to my own work and work flow. Thank you Matt! Looking forward to many more lessons."
