My interest is in developing singers to become a better version of themselves and help them reach their goals. Many of my students are singing professionally in Colorado, New York and internationally. We work primarily with intermediate to advanced students and just a few beginners.

I honed my teaching skills at Phillips Exeter Academy, one of the world’s most selective private schools. In their intensive pre-college program for students grades 7 to 12, I taught core writing seminars in “The Craft of the Essay” and “Writing Process” as well as workshops focused on the college essay. Since 2008, I have worked 1-on-1 with talented students across the United States and around the world to develop their writing skills.
Every student deserves a dedicated mentor to help them master the writing process—and discover how writing can further their actual passions and purpose. Your writing class is totally customized to your writing goals and unique interests. Together, we plan lessons that develop your skills and passions in tandem.
I love transforming students into vibrant, fearless writers! Schools do a terrible job of teaching writing. Even the best schools and most dedicated English teachers fail to provide good writing instruction. Why? Most teachers are passionate readers of literature, but they don't actually enjoy w

When I was 9, I won a Mother's Day poem-writing contest. My first thought: "I can't believe no one else entered."
Several decades later, I *still* don't know if that's why I won, but now that I'm the published author of 80+ books for children, I do know this: writing creatively is an adventure.
It's also a must. If you are going to write at all, write with flair! (You would eat a bowl of ice cream as is, but if offered a topping, wouldn't you take it?) It makes the experience more delicious for the reader, but also for YOU, the writer. The entertainer!
This is not your typical writing session. High impact. Low stress. I make it fun and funny. My writing challenges are unlike any you've done. If you're an avid writer, this is for you. If you're a reluctant writer, same! I've worked with all kinds of kids.
Each session will involve lively discussion and mind-blowing tips...you won't want it to end. So let's get started!
When I was your age, my parents forced me to take judo. And guitar. And computing programming. And writing. But before I tried those activities, I did not know which I would like. I thought I would like guitar, but I didn't. I did not think I would like writing THAT much, but I did.

Don't forget about piano arpeggios when you sit down to practice! Here, Helendale, CA teacher Sylvia S. shares her tips for playing and practicing them... One of the great masters of 20th century piano showmanship was Liberace, otherwise known as the Elvis of piano performance. Liberace’s trademarks were wildly ostentatious outfits, candelabras atop the piano, and dramatic, finger-tangling sweeps across the keyboard of a grand piano. Those dramatic sweeps, known as arpeggios, ar …
