I've been working with Russell for several months now. I took instruction 35 years ago but never progressed. As I was young and moving on to other things. Fast forward to now, I'm 51 years old and working with him on a weekly basis has taken farther faster than I could have imagined. He makes lessons fun and I really look forward to them. I have also seen him play live and sing. He's an amazing talent!

My son loves his drum lessons! Russell is very caring and patient teacher, just as this post stated, he also knows how to make lessons fun. My son is not a very confident type of a kid and Russell really helped to set everything at ease during first lessons he is very supportive. We also appreciate the flexibility - since our schedule is crazy and we often had to reschedule. Of course the greatest part is when he drums along with the kid at the end of the class - you' d be taking videos of that groovy stuff every time, trust me. This sure is noisy, but so much fun!

Joey R.

Charlotte, NC

About Joey

Joey Rincon is a classical and spanish guitarist in the Charlotte and surrounding areas. He is a very friendly and compassionate musician, and is completely immersed in the music world. Naturally, he wants to share his love of music with his students, and his goal is to awaken the musical potential in his students. He's been on a journey with guitar for 15 years. As an instructor, he is gifted in providing inspiration to his students. Technique, expression, repertoire, sight-reading, music theory, and much enthusiasm describe the experience of studying the guitar with Joey.

Joey Rin
con has been honing his technique and artistry on the guitar for 15 years. He was born and raised in New York, where he was first introduced to classical music through the violin. Now, he is a music student of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he continues on his musical journey as a classical guitarist.

Joey Rincon has studied classical guitar under the mastery of Derek Day at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and Charles Vaughn at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His playing reflects his Spanish culture and background, while simultaneously being fueled by his unstoppable love for music.

During his studies on the classical guitar, he has worked with the music of Mauro Giuliani, Matteo Carcassi, Francisco Tarrega, J.S Bach, and much, much more. What separates Joey Rincon from other musicians is his unmistakable close attention to small details in music. From studying under masters in the field, Joey Rincon pays special attention to the basic musical components such as melody, rhythm, and harmony, while putting a tremendous amount of effort and thought into his tone production. His musical ideas are an exact reflection to how he views the world around him; a beautiful, adventurous, and emotional reality.

His repertoire is forever expanding, but focuses mostly on the Baroque and Classical Era, and Spanish music, particularly that of Antonio Lauro and Francisco Tárrega. Joey is not limited to the genre of Classical music- his roots are in blues and classic rock, alternative rock, and even metal. However, the enticing sound of the classical guitar has become his primary instrument in the last few years, and performs mostly that genre of music.

I was 13 years old when I started playing piano. At first, I learned by ear and thought I could learn everything on my own. But I started taking lessons with Brian just to see if it would help me, and he taught me SO much about proper technique, articulation, etc. Now I study music at UNCG and I am an accompanist for church and musical theatre productions and an on-the-side composer. Without Brian's guidance and teaching I would most definitely not be where I am now or will be in the future.

What Are the Best Violin Brands for Beginners?
When you’re first starting to look for a violin brand, it's important to find a compromise between affordability and good quality. It’s not always smart to buy the cheapest model available, as not only is this likely to produce a poor sound and hamper any incentive to practice or progress, but it's likely to lose a lot of value on the resale market - it's worth bearing in mind that student models will be resold at some later date, whether you're moving onto something better, or to another instru

Guitar Master's Guide: How to Hold a Guitar Pick
For a beginning guitarist, the proper pick-hold is one of the most important things to master right off the bat. Luckily for you, learning how to hold a guitar pick the right way is easy. Plus, once you master your guitar picking posture, it will be easier to learn more techniques down the road.
