A great experience!

I highly recommend Marni for voice lessons. She is an extremely talented teacher in both the mechanics and creative aspects of singing. Often, she explains concepts to me in a visual manner because it is familiar to me (I have experience in visual art). I'm amazed at how much I've improved my vocal range/quality in a short time, and how much more comfortable I feel when I sing (both physical comfort and improved confidence). Marni is a gifted artist who will help you find your unique singing voice.

I booked my first 3 shows!

I started my vocal journey with Stephen just about two years ago, from scratch. Under his professional guidance, I have already landed my first 3 regional theater shows, AND my first major role of Val in "A Chorus Line"! Stephen's lessons are always fun, efficient, and he has a keen sense on how to best help me in my professional growth. As a dancer who sings, I look forward to seeing what lies ahead in my vocal training and career!

Excellent - transformed my voice

I've been studying with Stephen for almost 3 years and in that time my voice has developed immensely. He is in the business so he truly understand the market and helps prepare you for auditions. I have had the privilege of working with Marjorie for the past 14 years. I began taking lessons with her while still in middle school and I have continued to grow as a performer through years of her expertise and hands-on approach. She has trained me in multiple styles including broadway, opera, pop and jazz. Her willingness to go the extra mile and build a student's confidence and stage presence has enabled me to tackle any audition with a sense of pride in my abilities.

Marjorie has coached me through more than 50 auditions including conservatory program auditions. She has given me the gift of multiple recitals that allowed me to put her teachings to use. I can proudly say that I am confident not only in my singing ability, but also in my ability to "act the role". By that I mean, adding a character to every musical piece I perform, enabling me to be that much more successful in my performances. She has challenged me to leave my comfort zone and hand over control and I have been more than successful every time I put my complete faith in her.

To me Marjorie is the epitiome of voice teachers. I can not recommend her highly enough. Whether you are trying to make a career out of performance or if you are simply looking for a hobby, Marjorie is by far the best out there. Please give yourself the gift of voice lessons with Marjorie.

I was always afraid I couldn't learn Shakespeare, but Nicholas explained the intent on the word, the intent on the line. Soon, I was so caught up in the meaning of the lines and the story I was telling in that moment that I was able to engage in the role, smoothly, without worrying that I was performing Shakespeare. He broke it down so I could understand it, and then feel confident doing it. Highly recommend!

Nicholas knows Shakespeare and classical work. He really works with the text and helps an actor really understand the emotions in the scene, through the text. I've gotten so much out of his teaching and so have many of my friends. If you have an audition or play coming up, he's the one to get you ready for it! My friend nailed his audition, got the gig, all through his work with Nicholas. I've learned so much as an actor from Nicholas.

Studying with Shellen Lubin is a holistic experience and definitely not just about the voice. Each lesson was a life lesson for me and even though I have not had a face-to-face lesson for several years now, I continue to learn from Shellen. My experience is that she is the gift that keeps on giving. Shellen provided me with the necessary tools to improve vocally in music, in speaking and in presentation and as I have continued to practice with those tools, I find my voice getting stronger and more flexible than when I was studying with her in person. Additionally, I find I am becoming more of the person/performer she was endeavoring to expose in our sessions.

I would encourage anyone who is willing to be open and receptive to indeed study with Shellen. You will find there is more in you to bring to the stage (and the world) than you ever thought possible, and you will receive “food” that will nourish and enrich your life for years to come.

Shellen Lubin is the strongest vocal teacher it has ever been my pleasure to work with. Her years of successful teaching and volume of satisfied students are a testament to her abilities and professionalism. She is wonderful at diagnosing vocal issues and then consistently supportively working through them, without a hint of judgment or impatience. I would highly recommend her to anyone at any stage of training who is seeking to improve their technique in a friendly safe environment. She is also a terrific coach, directing character, text, subtext, and story in song so well. When I have taken her workshops, I have been so impressed how well all her students present their material, professionals, aspiring professionals, and non-professionals.

After only two lessons with Shellen Lubin, I have realized the benefits of professional vocal training. She provides practical exercises that can be done any where at any time; in addition, she is extremely supportive and prepares meticulous individualized exercises to do between lessons.

I highly recommend Shellen to anyone who’s been singing professionally and also to those fearful vocalists (like me) out there who want to overcome that obstacle. Shellen’s knowledgeable, supportive, super-warm style puts you at ease and gives you the confidence to sing with joy!

Thank you, Shellen, for all your help!
