Michelle G.

North Hollywood, CA

No two students are ever alike. I've learned that using only one method may not benefit all students. Therefore, I use a variety of methods, some of which include Hanon, the Bastien Series, Suzuki technique for Piano and Violin, and countless others depending on what the student wishes to achieve. I have found that my most successful (and satisfied) students are the ones that express to me their specific musical goals, and then I am able to find a combination of methods to help them practice, rehearse, and refine their style of interest.

Lesson Style
Lessons are uniquely tailored to the students' goals, be it to become functional with an instrument or to dominate at an audition. We will go through warm-ups that will place emphasis on technique, explore various methods so that the student may decide which one gets them the best result, and then work through the repertoire not only for proficiency, but also for interpretation, precise yet passionate phrasing, and of course, to ...

Spanish has always been difficult for me, but Michelle has helped me so much! She's the first Spanish teacher I actually look forward to seeing each time we have a lesson because she makes the lessons so much fun! She's very funny and easy to work with. Whenever I need to make a change to a lesson she always does everything she can to make it work. I've finally been able to raise my grade in Spanish after working with her!

At the risk of giving away my best kept secret, Michelle is THE BEST!!!

Not only is she an amazing teacher, she is an incredible talent, and awesome person. Her relaxed and nurturing nature enables you to feel super comfortable and excited to learn. She motivates you to try your best and focuses on your strengths, while building and improving upon your weaknesses.

I've taken singing lessons in the past, and after one class with Michelle, I realized, I hadn't learned anything! If you really want to learn in a positive and motivating environment, take classes with Michelle. Just don't sign up for my time slot...I called dibs and I'm going to be taking classes for a while! Lol. =)

best teacher I have ever had

I studied with other teachers in the past. What separates Armen from others is his passion, patience and professionalism when it comes to teaching violin. He makes something as complicated as playing the violin simple and fun. He analyzes the weaknesses and the strengths of the student and tailors a suitable program for the student to excel. In addition, he brings so much culture and flavor to his style of teaching, this from playing in world renowned orchestras and groups such as Yanni and others. He is by far the best teacher I have ever had.

Great teacher to learn!

Megan is great to learn with. I play other instruments but I wanted to start learning the piano and how to read music. She was very patient and really enforced the importance of getting into the habit of practicing, even if it's just 15 minutes a day! I highly recommend her for piano beginner adults and children.

Patient, communicative and fun!

I played the violin years ago and decided to pick it back up again. Megan was very patient and was very communicative with how to help me. She also came up with very fun ways to keep me practicing. She worked very well with me as an adult but I've also seen her teach very young children and her patience and creative teaching shines with the young ones as well! If you're looking for a personable, fun teacher that inspires, Megan is the teacher for you.

Brian B.

Sunland, CA

I majored in violin performance and studied with the best Russian violin teachers. I have had decades of professional playing experience on the violin.

About Brian

I studied music; violin performance, at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore. I majored on violin and minored on piano. I then spent many years playing and performing professionally in many groups. I played in groups like the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra and other modern music and classical groups. Since I also like to compose, I picked up many other styles and learned a few other instruments. I taught music for over twenty years, being active in the Music Teacher's Association and serving as string judge for the Certificate of Merit several years running. I teach with the principle that anyone can learn anything that is given in the right gradient and this is what really makes learning music enjoyable; not learning a lot of worthless shortcuts but being able to play well ...

I highly recommend Brian as a violin teacher. Brian has proven to be an excellent instructor, teacher and coach. He professionally and gently pointed out areas where I could make improvements, and showed me how to do it. He has great patience and a very effective way of communicating with me.
He is a violinist and a pianist and is expert at both which really enhances my lesson experience.

Sad Violin Music That Will Bring You to Tears
An effective practice routine incorporates a variety of things, including scales, long tones, technical exercises, sight reading, and repertoire work. However, there is one other very important habit that musicians should incorporate into their regular practice routine, no matter what their age or skill level: listening to other performers. Why is listening to other performers such an integral part of musicianship? For one, it exposes you to a wide array of timbres, techniques, and musical idea
WhatÂ’s the Difference Between Professional and Student Violins?
