vince T.

Pittsburgh, PA

I have been teaching for forty years. I started when I was in high school and my first student was dad's mechanic's son. He was four years old. About two years ago he found me on Facebook and it's a good feeling to know he plays professionally in a Metal Band! I've taught in every city that I have lived in and varied ages and levels from beginner to advanced students that play professionally but wanted to learn jazz for instance.

About vince

I am a musician and instructor that enjoys performing and teaching different styles of music. Many students come to me with a specific thing that they want to work on. I am able to design a course to help them reach their goal. With beginning students as they learn the basics and progress they begin to develop interest in certain styles. I look forward to helping them grow and discover why they are interested in the drums.

Michele D.

Cranberry Township, PA

Students will learn how to read music and will be taught good form and technique. They will learn how to strengthen and train their hands, arms, and legs for stamina. Through practice they will display the coordination necessary to play along with songs. Eventually, they will be writing their own drum beats.

About Michele

Hello! I have been playing drums for 25 years. I started taking lessons when I was eleven and took them for almost six years. My drum teacher was a really cool older guy who taught me a lot. He is the one who told me, "don't let your right hand know what your left hand is doing!" That was the most helpful piece of advice I got when learning. I also had a female drum teacher who was amazing. It was really cool to learn from another female drummer. She was better than anyone I even heard before. I always figured after learning drums and playing for a while I would end up giving lessons, too. And so, here I am. Drumming is fun, let's do this!

Mark E.

Pittsburgh, PA

Rusted Root, Pittsburgh Symphony, Pittsburgh Jazz legends, you name it. Some of my teachers in the past have played drum set and/or classical percussion for these renowned ensembles. I have had the privilege of studying with them, gaining priceless knowledge that I impart to my students. As a wise man said, "it's easy when you know what you are doing." I promise to do my best to get you there, and to hopefully enjoy the ride as well!

About Mark

Before leaving to teach English in Africa last year, I taught private music lessons at a studio in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. I am originally from Mt. Lebanon where I graduated high school before getting a degree in Music Therapy from Duquesne University. I am comfortable teaching any level of percussion, beginner-intermediate guitar, beginner piano, and beginner-intermediate voice. I was trained in all of these areas as part of my degree. I am also experienced teaching English as a second language to both African and Eastern European students, with very different sets of needs that go with both. I embody the philosophy that hard work and fun go hand-in-hand, especially when engaging in the learning process. I think a positive attitude goes a long way, and so does a good laugh!
