I have been teaching violin for seven years. Though I am classically trained, my interest in music goes far beyond classical music. I am constantly listening to various genres of music and consider myself a forever learner, loving everything in music from Prokofiev to the Flaming Lips. It is my job to help guide my students through their musical journeys, whether that is helping them get into their regional orchestra or teaching them that one song they've always wanted to learn. I teach out of the Essential Elements and Suzuki Method books. Though my lessons are fun and relaxed I will always give my students that extra push when needed. My goal is to help each student reach their personal success and to instill a love for playing music.

In our first lesson, you will learn about the parts of your instrument, how to care for it, and how to hold it. You will even learn some notes and begin reading music! By the end of your first package of lessons, you will be able to play with lovely tone, using the bow as well as plucking, and will have a handful of simple songs under your belt.

I have worked as a professional String Teacher for the past 10 with students learning the Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass and Guitar. I have also worked as an Orchestra Director in public schools in Boston, San Francisco and New York. My students enjoy learning with me and are inspired not only about playing music, but about life.

Hi! My name is Hua and I'm originally from Shanghai, China. I'm currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at Jacobs of Music. I've always loved making friends, helping people, sharing my thoughts and that led me to teaching! I have experience in teaching every level no matter if you just picked up the violin or can already play Paganini caprice I'm your girl! Learn with me I will share my knowledges with you as well as any Asian culture you're curious of. My ultimate goal is to be your friend, your guidance, someone who can be there when you need help, rather than a be teacher who tells you what to do. I will make plans for each individual because every soul is UNIQUE.

Experienced teacher of 5 years, I have taught strings in the schools as well as in my private studio. I specialize in working with beginners and intermediate students grades 5-12, but adults are welcome too! We use a body-oriented approach to help students play the violin with ease and clarity. This approach includes a mix of Alexander Technique, body mapping, Suzuki pedagogy, Karen Tuttle Coordination, and my somatic movement education curriculum. However, we also equally rely on ear training. Whether you're reading notes for the first time or playing by ear, we do ear training.
