One of my favorite instruments to teach , and definitely a fun instrument to learn, is the full Drum Set. You will love my method as it is very easy to follow. Starting with very basics of learning rhythms, within the first two lessons you will be able to play beats with a band! Study with me for over twenty years if you like and you will learn all styles of beats, polyrhythms and more.

I first started playing drums on pots and pans when I was a wee lad. My parents thankfully fostered my musical inhibitions and purchased an electronic pad at the of 9. I have been playing ever since, mainly self-taught, with a variety of bands performing professionally across the Texas music scene. In addition to drum kit, I am a classically trained trombone player who studied under professor Charles Hurt at Texas State. I aim to bring my performance experience and classical music education to my students, in a way that’s easy to digest and most of all, fun!
I can teach a variety of styles including rock, pop, funk, jazz, blues and metal. The progression is focused on fundamentals, technique and theory to ensure that you can apply these concepts to whatever style of music you'd like to play throughout your music journey. I also do volunteer work teaching piano and drum kit lessons with Kids in a New Groove here in Austin.
If you'd like to hear more of the music I have been ...

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

Sheri is a natural and amazing teacher. She is so positive and encouraging and I always look forward to her lessons. It is evident that she gets a lot of joy out of teaching music and working with students and that enthusiasm transfer to you and makes you enjoy the lessons and motivates you to learn. She is patient and she understand your strengths and weaknesses and breaks down complex pieces such that you can pick it up easily. I was probably her last student for the day and yet she has always been bubbling with energy and enthusiasm every single time I walk in for my lessons."

Knowing basically nothing about the technical aspects of drumming when we started, we needed Bobby's help to set up our kit. He showed us how to tune our drums, position the toms and ride/crash cymbals, and all around just get the best sound possible out of our basic TAMA drum kit. When Bobby gets grooving on our drum set, it becomes obvious that it’s not the size or cost of the kit that matters.
When we talked about what styles of music we were into and the kind of music we wanted to play, Bobby found perfect selections for us to play along to and he seems to have the sheet music to every song out there! One time I filmed a street musician drumming the funkiest of beats and after I showed it to Bobby, he broke it down for me so that I could play it too.
Bobby has been the perfect instructor for us and I strongly recommend anyone at any level to become a student of his."
