I am a professional violinist in the National Philharmonic at Strathmore. I am a violin and viola teacher at a private school of music. I have been teaching students of all ages, from 6-adult for thirty years. I love teaching all ages and levels. What matters to me is that the student wants to learn to play the violin and enjoy music.

Because I studied abroad — across three continents (Australia, UK, USA), I have a more worldwide perspective on violin performance practice. I also bring a flexible approach to my discipline, since my focus in classical music encompasses both traditional and modern repertoire. I am very intimate with the art of performance, as I am an avid recitalist and collaborator.
I was a Teaching Assistance/Fellow at UCLA for three years, and I have taught privately for the better part of a decade. The main tenet in my pedagogical philosophy has always been to allow a student to express their own voice, and to cultivate the discipline around their unique expression.

Despite its challenges, love for the violin and music should never take a back seat in a lesson, That is what I will focus on. Nevertheless, there are methods and techniques crucial to violin playing that I will also keep at the forefront. At the end of the day, students have their own unique voice that I will try to nurture while at the same time teach them the fundamental tools to achieve it. Whether just starting out or already playing for many years, I will strive to do what is best for the student. What I love about teaching is that moment when the student is making beautiful music and is enjoying themselves. My lessons are fun and methodical. I focus on what the student needs and how they can achieve their goals with the instrument.

My private students range in age from 4 to 40 years old, and I have gone on to become music teachers, composers, and professional musicians. My most influential teachers have been members of The Philadelphia Orchestra and graduates of The Curtis Institute of Music.
