I love teaching ASL so much for it is my passion. I am a fun ASL teacher and you will love how fast you learn ASL. Sign up now. You can find my youtube videos online. My background includes having deaf parents and daughters that are deaf so I have been using ASL all of my life as it's my first language and I am a CODA (child of deaf parents). I have taught k-12 deaf students for over 30 years. My favorite subject is teaching American Sign Language (all levels) and interpreting which I taught at the local college for over 20 years. I have lifetime teaching credentials for k-12 and community college. Presently, I interpret for the deaf free-lance. I have taught over 3000 students over my many years of teaching, it is my love.
Dan is awesome to work with. I've had five 30 minute sessions so far, and now have switched to 60 minutes - I've even paid in advance for 20 lessons because I know I'll be continuing with him long term. Love that he's very detail oriented and corrects me when I sign less than perfect.

A great instructor! Very patient and encouraging, and a great resource for real-world knowledge and experience. Very valuable insight, analogies, and guidance. Would definitely recommend!
I've been teaching American Sign Language for 5 years, and signing myself for 18 years, and my students have gone on to develop a love for ASL, Deaf people, and Deaf culture. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to carry on a simple conversation in the language, and as time goes on you'll be able to feel totally at ease with Deaf people. I have great online tools you can use for free to practice between lessons, and I'm flexible with any other resources we use. I can't wait to meet you!
I have been signing since 1998, spending every chance I can among my Deaf friends and immersing myself in the language as often as possible. I received my BA in Music with a certification to teach at Lubbock Christian University in 1998. Later I attended the Interpreter Certification program at Burlington County College in New Jersey from 2009-2011, and during that time took a summer course at Gallaudet University for the Deaf in Washington DC. Then in 2014 I received my MEd in Curriculum and Instruction with Instructional Technology from Houston Baptist University. I have been teaching ASL at the high school level since 2011. I am also one of the interpreters for the Deaf at my church in Fort Bend County, TX, outside of Houston, where I am a member and actively involved in the Deaf Ministry.
Please feel free to ask me any questions y
ou have. I'm happy to get back with you, and I look forward to teaching you!
Hello, my name is Ariel and I am excited to be ASL teacher. I am immersed in the ASL language everyday as an Interpreter which has allowed me to become fluent. With experience in medical, educational, and teaching settings, I have learned the best and most effective ways to learn this language.

Embraced by the Deaf community in the state of Massachusetts over 10 years ago, I was submerged in the language and the culture during and after losing what was left of my hearing. I’ve never felt so much love and support in my life. It was quite touching. During the whole “losing my hearing” process, I quickly picked up American Sign Language and began teaching at TLC Deaf.
My family relocated to a different state and I began teaching homeschooled students ASL online via other video chat apps like FT, Skype, etc.
I had no idea that this (TakeLessons) existed and I’m not even sure how I stumbled across this app. I’ve been seeing various vocabulary signed differently compared to what I learned so I’ve been joining classes as well. Furthermore, I believe that there will always be something for you to learn no matter how skilled you are.
I noticed that there were no morning classes during the week and figured that I could share what I know with those who prefer morning classes.
About Brandy Q
I’m fun, innovative, interactive and insightful. I believe that I am skilled at meeting people where they are, understanding how they learn, and adjusting my style of teaching to match their needs. My classes are voice off, but I have many visual cues along with text that will help students understand and flow.
Patient, clear, provide examples to explain concepts, a pleasure to be taught by her.

First lessons can be hard because you don't know what knowledge your new student is bringing. Brandy understood when we could speed up and when we needed to slow down. She is very friendly and relaxed. As a beginner, I highly recommend her!

Mrs. Williams is an awesome teacher. She is very patient and kind. I am not def and not very coordinated but I am actually learning and using what I learn, correctly, with my best friend who I recently reconnected with. Thanks Mrs. Williams for making this so much easier than I expected and working with me through my challenges!

Alyssa is the best! I've been with her for a year now and she makes learning ASL a blast. She is extremely relatable, easygoing, and helpful. Class sessions are never boring because she's very engaging and treats everyone like genuine friends. My ASL skills have improved a lot in a short span of time and I actively look forward to our weekly meetings!
I've been signing for almost 19 years. I have a Deaf son who is now an adult. Initially, I taught him and myself sign using library books. A few years ago, I went to college to study ASL, as well as Deaf culture. I actually know 2 different forms of sign language. Signing with me is FUN because it is my passion and is close to my heart as it's how I communicate with my son, his wife, and quite a few friends. Opening one's mind to ASL is akin to learning to SEE SOUND!
I've always liked sign language, after learning the alphabet as a child. I never really had a reason to learn it until I found out that my son was deaf. Initially I was concerned for him & any struggles he may go through because of it. That honestly dissipated quickly for me. I could now communicate with my kid! WooHoo! His very first signs were "cookie" & "crackers" because I had to bribe him to sign with me. His Deafness & our learning sign became our adventure! From brightly colored, tie-dyed hearing aid molds, to me teaching the neighborhood kids how to sign so that they could easily play together. Then discrimination from his school district set in. Momma bear came out.
I found an attorney willing to take the case pro bono, I got my son a Deaf advocate through a local community service, and called our local newspaper & shared the
story with them. Through that newspaper article, more parents came forward & reached out to me for help. That was the moment I realized my purpose in life; be it teaching sign, advocacy, sharing the rich culture that comes with it all.....This was & is my purpose. On an ironic little side note, I actually used to be semi-professional singer/ songwriter. Now, from time to time, I do enjoy Interpreting songs into ASL. I'm passionate, fun, funny but I can be pretty bad with the corny jokes. If you & I ever work together with sign Language, just be prepared for a wonderful adventure, but still within the safe confines of modern society.
I have patience and willing to teach all age groups the sign language alphabet and how to spell words and willing to give discount I will do a lesson and will add an extra 30min if take first lesson
