I build up technique and musicality, beginning with scales and instructional books which provide pieces of increasing difficulty. While this is a more traditionally classical method of learning, I also enjoy playing in other styles such as popular and anime music. Especially because of my personal interests, I am very open to teaching you the genres that you are interested in performing. ~

About Michael

Hello I'm Michael! I am a violinist and composer with a diverse skill set and 17 years of experience. I learn and grow as I pass on my knowledge and constantly find ways to better serve my students and help them achieve their goals.

I have been a student of Michael’s for approximately 7 months. My only previous experience with violin had been one year in elementary school band class and 8 months with a private teacher. When my private teacher’s lesson schedule changed, I was introduced to Michael and was greatly impressed by his skill level and teaching style. I have learned so much more than I had expected in each lesson, like how to self-tune, use a metronome, shift, and various other techniques. Michael constantly offers feedback on how I can execute techniques better, and I feel that this helps me to learn more effectively. He is always challenging me by giving me harder pieces and scales. I have even been told by my high school orchestra conductor that I have improved so much and she is constantly surprised by how fast I am learning. I highly recommend having Michael as a teacher for anyone looking to learn how to play the violin.

Michael is very talented and he is a great instructor. He explains the techniques really well. Very professional and supportive. I highly recommend him!

My background and career have never placed importance on speaking and looking objectively at myself, I wanted to improve that ability. Toya has been very patient and down to earth with me, as raw as I am, in helping me. After a few lessons I already feel confidence growing and enjoy her instruction.

"I have been taking classes with Hunter for a few months now and absolutely incredible! Yes the work is hard, but she is so fun to work with. (you can tell she does stand-up comedy! Has me cracking up every session!) Hunter makes you feel completely comfortable but knows how to get serious and touch and get stuff done. I’m really starting to notice a difference in the way I talk and the way I sound. She gives you very simple, very effective exercises for practice in between sessions an good memory hooks. Very organized and an excellent understanding of the work and accents in general. Fantastic teacher. I’m sure you’ll love her."
