I am a hardworking and passionate ASL teacher! I have my degree in Sign Language Interpreting so I have a lot of knowledge not only in Signs, but true ASL and deaf culture. I have taught multiple levels of students. Children from age 3, some who had multiple disabilities and were non-verbal, teens, and adults. I am committed to my work and will make sure that you’re getting the most out of every single lesson with me, as all lesson plans are 100% personalized! So come learn with me very soon!
I have been an educator for more than ten years. In that time, I've taught and tutored English, Language Arts and Spanish to students from elementary to PhD level. I also help students study for the SAT, ACT and TOEFL tests and coach students through the college and graduate school application process. I love teaching and learning. I am patient, enthusiastic and dedicated to my students.
My teaching philosophy can be summed up in a few words : learning should be fascinating, relevant, individualized and fun. Helen Keller said, “ A well-educated mind will always have more questions than answers.” My goal is to help my students ask the questions that will lead them to deeper understanding. The poet Mark Van Doren said, “The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery.” In our lessons, I will help you make discoveries that will ins
pire you to keep learning.
When I’m not teaching, I love reading, exploring the California coast, writing poetry, meditation and singing loudly.
I hold a Master degree of Music in Flute Performance from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor degree in Music Performance from Minzu University of China.
As a winner of the University of Central Oklahoma Concerto Competition, I played the Mozart Flute Concerto in D Major as a soloist with the UCO Symphony Orchestra.
I am capable of teaching students at all levels, and all music styles: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary. My lesson often included warm-up, etude, repertoire, theory, and orchestral excerpts.
Please don’t hesitate contacting me! I’m happy to answer all questions!
Vivien is excellent at addressing issues in my playing, while also encouraging me to continue to do well what she deems good playing. She has a positive attitude every lesson and I always feel invigorated to practice more afterwards and put forth more energy into music. I am grateful to have a teacher that challenges me and gives me confidence in my skills.

My 4.5 year old daughter had her first piano lesson with Jingci. I had learned how to play piano when I was a kid, so I could tell Jingci knows how to teach the basic foundation very well. She's firm yet patient and got my daughter to follow her instructions even though her attention span isn't that great at her age.

"Joy is by far the world's greatest ESL teacher.
She was my first ESL teacher when I was in college. She had extensive experience with foreign students
and knew how to apply her professional teaching skills to individual students to maximize each students' potential abilities by repeatedly correcting mistakes in detail. She handed out her own material every week and her material is by far the essence of English for ESL students. Once I went through her materials with her for about a year, my English has improved incredibly. She is open mind and patient so do not rush students to get anxiety. She is my lifetime companion and the best teacher. I am confident to recommend her. Do not miss the chance of a lifetime to meet the greatest English teacher."
