Hello potential piano proteges' ! ...Being a piano protege as a child myself, I have been teaching piano, organ and flute for over 25 years since and I currently have students that range from children to adults. While you are learning to play piano, you will be playing popular , classical , hymns and all types of music . I am a keyboard and composition major at Stony Brook University and play many musical styles like pop, standards, classical, swing and rock 'n roll. My student were finalists in the Yamaha Electone organ competition. From 4th grade to High School graduation , I recieved NYSSMA awards and scholarships as a flutist .I'd be happy to have a half hour consultation with no obligation. I love teaching piano, especially to younger students! I use the Faber Piano Method for my beginner students. This method teaches students to identify notes on the piano, read music notes, and learn simple and fun songs. For my intermediate students, I pick books and songs to suit each student's needs and interests. As they progress, they will learn more challenging songs and music theory while still having a fun time!

I come from a musical family where everyone was able to play piano at a high level and considered pursuing a career in piano for a long time. Although violin had become my primary instrument, I still perform and teach. I teach any level from beginner to advanced!
Some of the books I use - Piano lessons, Level 1 James Bastien, J. S. Bach 24 Fuges and preludes, L. Beethoven Piano Sonatas, A. Mozart Piano Sonatas.
Q&A:
Q.: Do you teach bi-weekly lessons?
A.: No, I do not give bi-weekly lessons, and require all of my students to take at least 4 lessons a month to be able to join my studio.
Q.: What happens if I miss a lesson?
A.: My studio policy is that all of my students are required to give me an at least 24-hour notice if they will be missing their lesson for any reason with the exception of illness or family emergencies. It is the student's responsibility to reschedule the lesson for the same week, or their lesson time will be charged in full. For illnesses and ...

For younger students, I use the Albert Young Beginner lesson book and activity book. The lesson book teaches basic piano skills at a good pace for young beginners, and the activity book reiterates what the lesson book teaches, but in different fun ways. For older students, I use the Bastien series of Piano instruction for my piano lessons. I use the Lesson book for teaching basic playing skills, the Theory book for basic theory. In addition to this, I like to eventually include A Dozen A Day exercise books and Hannon finger exercises, scales, and arpeggios. I feel this method of teaching will lead to well-rounded, quick improvement!
About Kathleen
After playing the flute and piano on my own for seven years, I began my classical music education at the age of sixteen with international soloist Jun Kubo. Only a year and a half after I began my studies with Jun Kubo, I was accepted into The College of New Jersey for a Bachelor's program in Music

Chord progressions offer a view of music from a whole new perspective. Once you know some common variants, you’ll be able to create your own music, learn and sight-read written music more quickly, and have a greater understanding of music in general. First, what are piano chord progressions? Chord progressions are simply a sequence of chords. (A chord is two or more notes played together). Chord progressions exist to develop the music in a harmonically meaningful way. Often you can hea …
