Students learn music theory as applied to the keyboard, sight-reading, improvisation and the application of classical technique to modern styles.

We begin with exercises to develop technique and train for agility, musicality and music theory. Classical music is used but not exclusively as we explore the many different genres of music! Ear training is also offered so that the student may be able to play by ear as well as reading music.

I learned how to play piano 4 years ago when I started teaching music lesson. When I first started I was teaching voice, so I had to learn scales and chords to be able to warm up and accompany the students I was working with. Pretty soon I was playing piano with my students for their recitals, and quickly I learned how to utilize the piano either for performance or practice!

Whether you are planning on leading with it, using it as accompaniment to someone else/yourself, or just want to learn for fun as a hobby, I can teach you all you need to know for your beginner piano studies! If you have any questions, please message me!

I have been playing piano since I was 6 years old. Since then, I have done many recitals, concerts and accompanied singers. Learn how to be proficient in all!

I started playing in orchestra and singing in choir when I was 9, I have been teaching music in the public school system since 2016, and I have been teaching private lessons for over 8 years now! I always wanted to play piano when I was younger, and I was so excited when I got the opportunity to learn the piano when I was preparing to be a music teacher. I have seen how much learning piano helps with the fundamentals of music. The students I have taught who know piano catch on much more quickly to other music practices. I very much enjoy the work that I have done with my beginning piano students, and I would love to share that experience with more students!

I am a former classroom music teacher, with an MA in Music Education, and I have been a working musician/recording artist for 30 years. I am patient and experienced in getting results. I believe the recipe for music education is Knowledge, Practice, and Fun = Joy. Spreading joy is a valuable service for good community.

Learning piano is not only very gratifying, but it is also the best way to understand music theory, which translates to every instrument. I can help every student achieve his or her goals, whether it's to lead a campfire circle or play Carnegie Hall someday. (One of my students opened for B.B. King, and most of my students will play music for the rest of their lives. Some have grown to lead their own bands.)
