Joseph Nikita has been teaching piano for over 10 years, from beginning levels to advanced. He is a graduate of the Academy of Music, Theater, and Fine Arts in Chisinau, Moldova, where he studied with renowned professor M. V. Yudina, who is widely recognized as one of the greats in piano teaching and performance.

Regardless of his students' age, style, and ability, Joseph has unparalleled virtue in passing on to his pupils his elaborate musical skills. He possesses a wide scope of expertise in teaching classical piano, incorporating different styles and various composers into his methodology. From Bach to Beethoven to Rachmaninoff, Joseph teaches with a creative mind, making the learning process easy-going and insightful.

Along with all the technical and solo classical pieces he teaches, Joseph makes it a point to train his students to play and improvise on the fly, being able to collaborate with other musicians, both in reading written scores and in developing their own ...

Joseph is a very gifted person, it's hard to find someone who has an ocean of musical ideas in his or her heart. He is not just a professional in his work, he is a true composer. Thus it is more than creativity, he is not simply putting together known material, he's creating his own, and he does it in a professional way. It never gets boring to work with him, I always look forward for his flesh ideas and new way to interpret music.

I have had many piano teachers before I came to Joseph. Since then, in his private lessons we've covered scales, learned classical pieces, choir songs, accompaniment for hymns and how to play by ear.
I love how much he cares for each of his students and wants each lesson to be valuable. The passion for teaching is seen in him, and as a current student of his, I could say that he has built plethora of skills in me, so that I can use that knowledge to serve God, persevere, and carry on that education to the generation after me.
He has a lot of experience teaching piano and a big background in music. It's a blessing to be a student of a talented teacher, composer, and conductor, who is also highly respected, inspirational and caring.

I have been taking theory/harmony lessons with Mr. Joseph Nikita for 4 years now and couldn't be any more satisfied with his teaching style.
Mr. Nikita takes the complex concepts of music harmony and breaks them down to the point where they become easy to understand, retain, and apply to my homework and compositions.
One thing I much admire in Mr. Nikita's teaching is the variability in his explanations. I don't prefer learning in a lecture-style environment (where the teacher lectures and the student takes notes), so Mr. Nikita takes each topic and explains it in multiple ways - using real-life applications and examples. This helps me obtain a clear understanding of each lesson - making it easy to go in depth in music harmony.

Kevin taught me piano for four years. In that time, I learned he both holds his students to high standards of excellence while also making lessons fun. His amazing talent coupled with his great sense of humor and love for people made for an enjoyable experience. However, his students gain more than a pleasant experience and basic skills. Learning notes and rhythm is half the job, the other half is making it musical. Kevin excels in imparting this to his students and is a joy to know. He's the best!

Kevin Pollock is a very dynamic teacher and performer! He loves people and has a delightful personality that makes working with him a joy! It is impressive to hear one of his young elementary school students play a Bach Invention with ease. His passion for music is contagious! His work ethic and standards for excellence are top shelf. I highly recommend him as a teacher for any age student of the piano.

I highly recommend Kevin as a piano teacher. I studied piano for years and wanted my children to be grounded in good fundamentals. Kevin excels at teaching good technique, theory, and practice habits. He assigns music that supports a students level but also challenges them to master pieces that are difficult for them through slow and repetitive practice. He does all that while making it fun. My children love the piano and that’s entirely because of Kevin. He’s the best!

"Jennifer was my son's piano teacher for over 2 years. She started working with my son when he was 7 and I could have not asked for a better teacher for him. She interacted with him exceptionally well and my son simply adored her. Jennifer has a natural talent in teaching especially due to seeing how much my son has excelled with his piano skills over the years. He was well prepared and rocked all of his recitals due to Jennifer's dedication to him. She was always on time and showed up when expected. I would highly recommend Jennifer as a teacher to all. She is super friendly and has a welcoming demeanor about her. I would definitely rate her one of the best instructors ever!"

"Lena is such a wonderful teacher! She is patient and is really vested in making sure you get the most out of each lesson. I'm an adult beginner and in just the 4 lessons I've had, I've come a long way and have learned so much. I really want to learn Billy Joel songs and Lena has been great in guiding me and supporting what I love. She has helped build my confidence in front of the piano and I look forward to the upcoming recital! I always look forward to classes and can't wait to see my improvement at the end of 10 lessons."

"I began my piano lessons at Mr. Yakov's Music School when I was in fourth grade. Since then, I have progressed far in my piano studies. When I first started taking piano lessons, I thought it was going to be hard and tedious, and that it would take up too much of my time. However, just by practicing fifteen minutes a day, I was able to get through Piano: Primer Level (my first piano book) in a matter of months! I’m not saying that piano is easy, just that you don’t have to spend hours each day to learn how to play. Also, I feel that taking piano lessons has given me something to improve upon and work toward. I feel more motivated to learn songs that I like to play and to display my skills to my family and friends. Sometimes, I play for my family while they are eating dinner, like a mini-concert. Overall, I highly recommend taking music lessons to anyone, at any age. Music lessons have greatly improved my life as a rewarding and entertaining experience.

4 Ways to Make Practicing Piano Scales FUN! [Infographic]

Tired of practicing piano scales over and over... and over again? While repetition is great for your muscle memory, getting bored won't do you any favors. Here, New York, NY piano teacher Nadia B. shares four ideas for how to practice scales in new ways...   It's no doubt that learning the fundamentals of piano -- like major and minor scales, arpeggios, and so on -- make a huge impact on your success as a musician.
