I have played guitar for almost 30 years and I've done concerts, performances and lectures in different states and also internationally. My biggest influences are Paco de Lucia and Tommy Emmanuel and I enjoy teaching guitar to any levels, ages and styles. My goal is to make sure my student will enjoy guitar lessons not matter how long it takes.
I am also the current guitar professor at Union College, Music Art Ambassador for Nebraska Arts Council, Guest teaching artist for John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and Teaching Artist in Residence for The Lied Center.
I love sharing my knowledge and experience with my students. I like to see the progress of my students and how they grow into their music skills no matter the age.

I have played at the house of blues multiple times (as a jazz combo, solo blues artist), and have over 10 years of experience playing blues guitar in rock/blues bands and jazz band at my high school and college.
You can expect to learn how to play both 12 bar and 16 bar blues, and the different chords/scales used in blues songs and improvisation. In addition, you will learn how to use scales to solo effectively, and the different guitar techniques many of the greats use to get that blues sound you are looking for. I have a home studio perfect for practicing blues that comes equipped with a PA system, mics, 2 electric guitars with amps, a bass/amp, and a drum kit.
About Kory
I graduated from Cal Poly with a degree in Music, and have taught lessons for 10 years. I performed in Jazz Combo, Concert Choir, and Vocal Jazz, and played in numerous concerts and competitions. In addition, I am a songwriter, and have written many songs for my own band, and for other clients. I a

Charles is highly approachable and extremely knowledgeable. He walks the perfect line between making his students feel comfortable whilst also pushing them to become better in every single session.
I got a solid grasp of the basics of music theory and was able to fully improvise in different scales at the end of the course. The growth I had was tremendous - all thanks to Charles' guidance.
Charles will take the time to fully understand the needs, goals and struggles of his students. He will be there for them inside and outside of class time because he genuinely cares about music and his students becoming better.

Learning how to play blues guitar? Pay extra attention to these five things from guitar teacher Mike B.... 1. In Tune Bends The blues guitar style is full of bending strings. Bends, as well as hammer-ons, pull-offs and slides, give guitarists the ability to imitate the way singers use various inflections while singing melodies. However, unlike hammers-ons and slides, bends are not guaranteed to be in tune. Since there is nothing worse than an out-of-tune bend in the climax of a great solo …
