I've been teaching music professionally for the past 15 years. In that time, I've worked with students of almost every conceivable age and ability level on a wide variety of instruments (ukulele, guitar, bass guitar, banjo, harmonica, piano) and am here to help make your musical dreams come true.
I customize my lessons to the needs/learning style of each individual student with a focus on technique, music theory, and songwriting. With all that in mind, I'd love to hear about your musical goals and figure out the best path to get you there.

His flexible teaching style was responsive to my musical growth and interests. As we went, Andy sprinkled in some easy to understand music theory. I learned a lot of my favorite songs (including several out of the mainstream). He worked with me to adapt songs written for guitar to banjo. He also helped me to pick quality instruments that were right for me and my budget.
Highly recommend!

My goal as a teacher is to give you the facility to express yourself through music. The key parts to developing this facility are:
1. theory -- if you know your theory, you know the best way to express your idea without having to think about it
2. technique -- the last thing you want is for your technique to hinder your ability to express your idea. Having good technique lets your ideas flow naturally
When you take lessons with me, you get out of it what you put in. Your job as student is to be honest with what you expect to achieve and my job as teacher is to give you the tools to achieve it
About David
I have been playing music almost my entire life. I first started on trombone in 4th grade then switched to guitar in 6th. I picked up the electric bass in my later teenage years and learned the upright bass (both jazz and classical) in college. My students get the benefit of my education, as wel

I've been teaching guitar since 2010, starting with a classical foundation and branching out into about everything I could get my hands on. I learned that there is a fundamental set of skills that make just about everything possible. I encourage beginner students to start with whatever they are drawn to, no matter how obscure or cliche. As they come along I help them realize what is common to all things musical and develop the skills that are equally useful in all styles so they have the freedom to explore anything their heart desires effectively.
About Jonathan
I studied music therapy and music theory at Temple University from '06-'10. Learned a lot. Then again, I learned even more teaching at a school for kids with learning disabilities and working as a traveling street performer. Once you see the world and work with some unexpected challenges, you learn

He also gave me great advice when buying a guitar and helped me pick one out."

John is a great one-on-one instructor. I had taken an 8-week, beginner guitar, group lesson through Arlington County, but almost nothing was said about how we were holding our hands or holding the guitar. Several quick suggestions from John improved my ability to practice immediately. He is friendly, easy-going, and has kept up my interest by virtue of what he sends me home with to practice for the next lesson. I don't think one can go wrong taking lessons from John."

I really enjoy my instructor. He is patient and professional. I will admit I was a bit nervous at frist but he is very calm and helpful."
