About Andrew
If you want to learn what they teach in the guitar program (GIT) at Musicians Institute here in Hollywood, but don't want to spend $30k on tuition and living expenses to do it... Or, if you are planning to attend GIT yourself and want to get way ahead of the curve early, so you too can graduate with top honors... Schedule some lessons with me, at a fraction of the GIT price-tag!

Beginning, intermediate and advanced guitar players will all benefit greatly from the vast wealth of guitar- and music-related information and experience that I have to offer (no brag, just fact).

My influences include, but are by no means limited to: Frank Zappa, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Sting, The Cure, Duran Duran, Prince, Lady Gaga, Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Miles Davis, Christina Aguilera, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, Béla Bartók, Igor Stravinsky...and nearly
everyone else making interesting music in the world.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a GIT graduate and will teach you everything they teach at Musicians Institute, one-on-one. Whether you want to learn scales, arpeggios, chords, music theory, harmony, arranging, reading music, writing music, ear training, rhythm guitar styles (rock, pop, jazz, funk), soloing techniques (rock, metal, pop, fusion), songwriting (on acoustic and electric), live performance (pre-show preparedness, eliminating stage fright, developing a professional stage presence), using fx pedals, ideal amplifier settings, finding your signature guitar tone, music production (recording, mixing and mastering), music business (creating your press kit, marketing your music, negotiating payments and contracts)...you name it, I've studied it and will teach it to you!

*** Studio Equipment ***
When I'm not touring and doing sessions, I spend the majority of my time in Hollywood, where I keep a small but full-featured music studio on a nice, quiet little street just off Hollywood Blvd. It's great because it contains all of the necessary items I need to maintain my skills, improve my abilities, and expand my knowledge (sofa, chair, office desk/chair, several amplifiers, guitars, fx pedals, metronome, etc). And in terms of the lessons I teach, while there isn't an on-site waiting area, there are several shops, restaurants and a small Fresh & Easy grocer with a nice, quiet alfresco seating area just a block or so away. What's more, the Hollywood & Highland mall is only a few blocks away. Parking is very convenient in the LA Fitness subterranean garage, the entrance to which is located on North Sycamore Ave. The fee for parking is free for one hour, with easy, no-hassle validation from Fresh & Easy. Note: street parking is permit-only and you will be ticketed...so DO NOT park on the street!

*** Travel Equipment ***
Please bring your instrument, a notebook, pencil, and, if you would like to record your lessons to have and review afterward, a pocket-size recording device. I will typically record moments when a student performs an example of something s/he has been working on, or an improvisation regarding the same. I do this strictly for the purpose of (a) having an example to which to compare and measure the student's progress and improvement over time, and/or (b) to capture a 'magical moment' of musical inspiration that might prove useful to the student's artistic/musical development, etc. At the student's request, I will provide a copy of said recordings (if any) on a CD. All such recordings are kept 100% confidential, are not distributed nor disseminated for any reason whatsoever, and are deleted at such time that the student discontinues his/her lessons with me.

*** Specialties ***
I am a very style-flexible musician and guitarist. Some really great books I've used in my own studies and lessons include: Pepe Romero's 'Guitar Style and Technique,' Ted Greene's 'Chord Chemistry,' George Russell's 'The Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization for Improvisation,' Peter Magadini's 'Polyrhythms,' et al.

Angela is extremely knowledgeable in all things voice and instrument. She is very talented in both singing and teaching. I took voice lessons from her & I can say I learned so much about technique, breathing, & how to care for my vocals. Angela taught me to embrace my range & love my voice. She is a great teacher I would recommend her to anyone that wants to learn more in this area.

Angela helped me to expand my range, and also taught me "how to breathe," which helped me get the support I needed to make clear sounding notes. I sang alto in chorus for years and she taught me how to successfully hit high notes and have them sound good too. She also worked with me at the tail-end of High School, when my anxiety ran rampant. But somehow she managed to make me a more confident singer and person overall. Thank you Angela! :)

Angela is a great voice instructor . She is super talented and has a very kind soul. My daughter took lessons from her for a few years and sang with her in our worship band. She was always positive and encouraging and really helped my daughter build confidence with her singing.

I've taken guitar lessons from a few teachers and Dan is the best fit I've ever had. He is very patient and does a fantastic job of tailoring lessons to individual needs. He clearly loves to play music and is very thoughtful about how he shares this knowledge in his lessons. He never fails to encourage me as a guitar player and reinforces a 'can do' attitude. His positive and calm demeanor also make for a fantastic instructor. Thank you, Dan.

I teach beginner all the way advanced students who are looking to improve as musicians or learn the guitar from square one. What's most important to me as a teacher is helping you achieve your goals in music. I have a decades plus worth of experience teaching and playing guitar and am currently an active member on the Seattle music scene performing at various venues around town; As an educator, I have 8 years of experience teaching students of all levels and styles and my focus for the student is tailoring lessons to best meet students' goals and putting them in the best possible scenario to achieve them.

About Jesse
My name is Jesse and I am a guitarist who lives in Seattle, WA. I graduated from the University of Southern California with Cum Laude Honors in 2015. I maintain a busy schedule of performances accompanying jazz singers in the area and I am on faculty at Cornish College of the Arts as an accompanist in the jazz voice department.

I began teaching beginning guitar lessons to friends and classmates in high school. Ever since I picked up the guitar, I knew it was something that I wanted to pursue professionally because of the joy that it brought me. Being able to share that with other people is something I am very passionate about. I continued teaching beginning guitar and advanced jazz harmony to other guitarists in the music program to help pay tuition in college at USC. I taught at Music and Arts in Redmond during the summer after finish
ing college before moving to the Bothell store within the same organization. I also began teaching at the Andrew White School of Music around the same time. I teach beginners on both guitar and bass as well as jazz improvisation on guitar.

Jazz is a style of music I specialize in and I teach it like teaching a language as I firmly believe that jazz is a language. I teach improvisation to not only guitar, but to all instruments as the concepts are the same. Improvisation lessons are fun and interactive and challenge you to be creative, which is what art is all about!

My teaching method is very flexible, as I am very aware that students learning styles and goals vary greatly. I am a patient teacher who will work to help put a student in a position to be successful and achieve his or her goals through lesson plans and teaching methods tailored to meet the student's learning style. Seeing students succeed and have fun making progress and improving as a musician brings me a lot of joy!

There is nothing more frustrating for a student than feeling like they're treading water trying to teach themselves. My goal is to make the learning process as fun as possible! One of the ways I do that is giving the student the opportunity to experiment with improvisation and explore the instrument during lessons and for when they practice at home to supplement the more formal training. This helps students develop their own individual sound on the instrument from day one, is fun and interactive, and gives the student the chance to be creative when learning a new instrument..

I have been taking lessons from Jesse for almost a year.

Jesse is a fantastic guitar player, and
he is an experienced and effective teacher.

From the first lesson he has been clear, concise, and serious about my progress on the guitar and bass guitar.

Jesse displays a strong passion for guitar playing and teaching and his in depth understanding of the subject comes across in his lessons.

His lessons are very well thought out. I would highly recommend Jesse if you want to take your guitar playing to the next level.

I have been a friend of Jesse's since Highschool.. I have always admired his positive approach to music, the guitar, and anything else he speaks of. Recently, we had a Skype lesson and I had asked Jesse about accompaniment, (as singing and playing is something I want to move forward with)...his time spent with me was organized, precise, and very very knowledgeable as well as enjoyable! I felt I was gettin a clear sense of were to start and how to approach what I want to work on. Also, Skype lessons are logged so all the information is stored, and you can go back and revisit the material. Jesse is an excellent musician and instructor. Even if you are not a guitar player, any instrumental principle could work with him and grow from a duo setting experience.

Lessons are fun, laid-back, and practical. Each lesson is customized for the student's needs. Lessons are about making the learning process as enjoyable as possible. This is accomplished by playing songs that students choose (or that are recommended and the student likes) that gradually introduce new skills and concepts. This way, they're learning songs they love while becoming a better player. They will gradually learn the skills needed to reach their goals and enjoy playing on their own. For younger students, they usually want to play guitar because it seems fun but they often quickly get discouraged because they feel they don't know enough to play their favorite songs. If this is the case, we'll focus on helping them understand basics they need to play that song they want to learn. They will have simple tools every week to help them play the song of their choice, and will be encouraged to bring in a new song they'd like to work on once finishing a previous one. For older students, ...

Rachael is one of the best music teachers I’ve ever had. She is very encouraging and helps the students with whatever they’d like to learn. Her ability to listen to a song and figure out the chords, strum pattern, picking, and any other necessities truly astonished me. She is a lovely lady with a heart of gold, and someone I am glad to say I know. Rachael’s dedication to her students is something that I have never seen before and won’t be surprised if I do not see again. I am so proud that she has been apart of my life.

I love working with musicians who want to grow and develop into the musician that they truly desire to be. Whether you are learning guitar to play in a band, work on your solo career, be able to play your favorite songs with friends and family together, or simply practice a healthy and productive hobby on your free time, my goals as your teacher are to help you feel comfortable expressing yourself with a guitar in your hands.

We will work through learning and playing songs, right-hand rhythm technique, left hand chord structures, playing with easy-feel, soloing and different scales, improvisation, and of course, music theory and the science behind how everything works up and down the guitar neck.

About Juan
I am an experienced musician, singer, and teacher. I have six years of performing and touring experience, and six years teaching private lessons as well as at the School Of Rock in Ballwin, MO. I like to work with my students on their specific needs/interests/desires as singers and musicians. Whether that is on technique, performance, extending range, learning songs, or simply feeling more comfortable with your singing voice and your performing abilities, I am happy to help you grow as a singer and musician.
