I personally adore the ukulele, especially as a starter instrument! I've been playing uke for 7 years now, and it's the perfect accompaniment whether you're on stage or in your bedroom. It's easy to travel with, too, if you have a busy life and are always on the go, ukulele is easy to learn and get good at quickly (but you obviously still need to put the practice time in!!) I write a lot of songs on the ukulele & love the unique style and sound it has.

I start many children ukulele initially, whose hands and bodies are too small to begin guitar. We can build on their knowledge and musical journey keeping both instruments in mind (not necessary however) as they grow and mature into guitar. I have been teaching ukulele since 2014. I teach in a therapeutic style, using my music therapy training to be as observant, adaptive and flexible as I need to be for the student's benefit. I teach at the student's pace and to their interests, while building their musicality, music theory, and performance skills. I often incorporate singing into ukulele lessons as well. 1-2 times a year, we work towards building a repertoire of 1-4 pieces (depending on the student) to play at a local assisted living facility or skilled nursing facility.

I believe that learning an instrument is a journey, just think of me as a tour guide! I believe in learning at your own pace and learning the things you are most interested in. Every step is an achievement and I want to assist you in making steps that will take you in the direction you want to go.
