My ukulele mentor was extremely knowledgeable regarding the intricacies of various music formats. She broke down complex details into language that I could understand. She challenged me with next steps and was kind to make me feel accomplished.

As a musician, I wear many hats: opera singer, voice teacher, choir director, cantor, accompanist, and vocal coach. I work with singers of all levels - I believe that everyone can learn to sing, and that my job as a voice teacher is to help each student uncover what is unique and special about his or her own voice. My foundational training is classical singing, and those principles are what I teach, but I also try to help students apply healthy singing to whatever style they wish to sing. Whether you are looking for basic vocal technique, specific audition prep, solfege and sight-singing, or performance coaching, let me know how I can best help you achieve your goals! I hope that all of my students develop not only their skills as singers and performers, but also along the way develop and nourish a love of music and music-making.

About Stephen

I’m an opera singer based in Austin, TX, a city I’ve called home for the past 9 years. In addition to both classic and contemporary opera, I perform a wide range of repertoire: musical theater, Gregorian chant, choral music, you name it! I hold a Bachelor of Music degree from Texas Tech Unive

Singing opera is my passion and I have recently received my Master’s degree in classical vocal performance at the Mannes School of Music. Equally at home in a versatile range of musical styles and repertoire from Baroque to 21st Century, I have acquired many different tools for teaching through my studies and performance experience.

Students of all ages and levels are welcome. Repertoire that I teach includes art song, opera, and operetta in English, Italian, French, German, and Russian with a focus on building a solid and healthy vocal technique. My experience in dance, Alexander Technique, and acting informs my teaching approach. I include body awareness, character interpretation, and making the music come alive as an integral part of the lessons.

I love to teach and enjoy helping others discover their voices and achieve their personal singing goals. My voice teachers have greatly impacted my life and my goal is to inspire my students in a similar way. Everyone has a unique ...

We live in California and my daughter (14) recently started online singling lessons. She is shy but she is breaking out of her shell with Ms. Isabel's help. Isabel is friendly, enthusiastic, and professional. Shortly after I signed up for lessons, she contacted me and we spoke directly on the phone. She is genuine about getting to know her students and their goals. After just a few lessons, I am seeing a difference in confidence level in our daughter so I'm looking forward to having more lessons with Isabel.

"Dani is a really special instructor for me! She helped me realize how big my passion for singing was because, since the beginning, she has inspired me with her singing, passion, and knowledge. She was my teacher for 4 years and she prepared me to get into CU Boulder’s School of Music. With her guidance I improved not only my vocal technique, but my musicality, acting skills, languages, and every single aspect that a singer needs to be a professional artist. She was really specific and patient about my growth as an opera singer and she always helped me find the perfect repertoire for me. I can say that I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for her. Dani saw the best in me even when I didn’t, and I am still learning a lot from her."

"I am a retired professor. It is always my dream to be able to sing some day, but I was intimidated by the technical requirements involved in singing until I met Linda. She is a wonderful singing coach, knowledgeable, honest, patient, and inspiring at the same time. Not only she has amazing voice, but also has very good ear and can immediately tell whenever one is off tune or not. Linda combines rigorous demand for perfection with warm encouragement and repeated demonstration of how to improve. I am blessed that I had her as my coach. After having just taken a course on bel canto offered by her recently, I feel that I really have learnt enormously about breathing, resonance, vibration, Italian pronunciation, and several beautiful songs, among others. I most strongly recommend Linda without any reservation to any one who is thinking to learn how to sing."

She has immediately recognized by weak spots and put me to work on improving. She gave me a lot of Vocal warm ups to help where I'm not confident in, and never pushed me to the point of Vocal hurt. "To say that my opera lessons with Margo have been miraculous would be an understatement. My family and friends had repeatedly encouraged me to pursue my singing and I wrote it off as hyperbole. When I finally decided to take it seriously I was afraid I was too old to start pursuing a career in the arts. Margo explained to me that some performers can be in their 30s or 40s before reaching full vocal maturity. She immediately took me under her wing which has resulted in near perfect pitch. Under her tutelage I have learned to evoke emotion from my audience thru both song and dramatization. Needless to say, her being multi-lingual has no doubt made her uniquely qualified to do so. If you want a disciplined, dedicated, no nonsense instructor, call her. You won't be disappointed."

8 Beautiful Opera Arias for Beginner Singers

It is always exciting when a vocal student is ready to start studying his or her first operatic aria! One of the best things about being a classical singer is knowing you have so many great years ahead of you. After all, you’re considered in your prime in your 40s. That being said, realize that the voice you have now and the repertoire you’ll first study will be very, very different from what you sing later on in your career. It’s absolutely crucial that you sing repertoire that is …
