I hold two degrees in voice performance—a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree from Binghamton University, the State University of New York. Currently a tenured instructor teaching Chinese and singing classes at Binghamton University, I am an award-winning teacher and an active singer. I have given solo voice performances in more than 100 concerts across the U.S. and China, including a solo concert at the United Nations Headquarters. I have taught numerous voice students at the university and privately, and some have gone on to win international awards. I teach vocal technique and singing in both English and Chinese. My strength is making complicated singing techniques easy to understand and apply. I teach students how to sing comfortably and naturally in a relatively short period of time. My emphases include the following: how to use breath properly to support voice, how to open the mouth in a correct way when singing, why smiling while ...

David was my first online clarinet coach and you cannot have a better teacher when you want to learn quickly and correctly. I took 13 lessons and it changed my life as a clarinetist. I highly recommend David.

there are many clarinet players. Some are good, few can teach, and a minuscule amount are both. You have just found one of those few. This man has judged at international competitions, and has incredible patience and memory. He has studied under an understudy of the founder of the american school of thought for clarinetists, and always knows what you need to know, even if you are only in 8th grade.

This is the one.

David is flexible and geared towards the needs of the individual student. I am returning to the clarinet after more than a 40-year absence and he is able to accommodate my requirements. He is friendly and makes the student feel at ease. I look forward to more lessons with him.

I have been studying & teaching composition/arranging since 2005. I believe that both subjects are very personal forms of artistic expression, so my goals as a teacher is to open as many doors & pathways within the subjects as I possibly can. I cover everything from arranging/composing for solo instruments to full symphonic orchestrations to writing for rock bands.

"Both me and my daughter have been taking piano lessons from Ethan since last 8 months. He is an amazing teacher and has proved beyond doubt, that he can teach music to a person of any age. He is very adaptable to our specific goals and works alongside, as per our capacity to help us achieve what we intend to. I had no experience with music or piano whatsoever before this and started the lessons to learn a new skill. Over the months, I have not only developed interest in piano but also been able to play with confidence. I had experience with couple of more teachers before we got him, and he is certainly the best. Would highly recommend him."

"I love my lessons!

I started taking lessons with Dr. Honein 13 years ago. Throughout these years, I not only learned to strive for perfection in my craft but I learned some of the most valuable life lessons one could only learn through music. My lessons with Dr. Honein are always an exciting experience, because she keeps then fun and progressive. Because of piano lessons, I feel like I've acquired a good sense of discipline, punctuality, and determination. Playing the piano has become a mean for me to express my feelings through music. All in all, I love playing the piano. Dr. Honein is a brilliant scholar with so much knowledge and talent to share, and she is so much fun to be around. I'd like to also add that she is really funny, and accommodates her lessons to students of all ages, whether they are looking to learn how to play the piano just for fun, or professionally."

"I took lessons with Steven for almost a year and I must say working with him has truly been a blast. I emailed Steven originally looking for help with my theory skills as well as both my acoustic and electric guitar playing and I have without a doubt gotten a hundred times better at all of the above. I have never been able to play a guitar solo before working with him and thought it would be months until I could even begin to think about that but right away he showed me the ropes and got me going. I was totally discouraged about my skill level because I’ve been wanting to major in music in college but started playing late in the game. However, Steven was nothing but encouraging through not only teaching me crucial musical skills but also sharing invaluable stories from when he was in music school leaving me nothing but inspired. Its often intimidating to meet a private instructor for the first time (I’ve met plenty of bad ones) but Steven is one of the nicest guys in the world and I can’t wait to continue lessons with him again once I have the time. Be sure to check out the Rivera Sunnarborg Duo live they are absolutely breathtaking! Have fun taking lessons and get ready for some nerdy music theory jokes!"
