I decided to take up cello at age 57 as a new instrument. Melissa did a great job teaching proper technique and method and was really aware of my personal goals for what I wanted to achieve. She has a great gentle and encouraging demeanor. I would highly recommend Melissa.

We begin with exercises to develop technique and train for agility, musicality and music theory. Classical music is used but not exclusively as we explore the many different genres of music! Ear training is also offered so that the student may be able to play by ear as well as reading music.

My wife and I have been teaching piano lessons in the Kansas City area for more than 20 years. We have studios in our home; she teaches upstairs and I teach downstairs! I am currently accepting new students and welcome the opportunity to see them grow and experience the joy of piano playing. W

When it comes to teaching, I place importance on the fundamentals of playing and writing while encouraging each student's personal musical interests. Learning to read and write music with an understanding of theory are important skills to gain when studying an instrument. After developing that foundation, I like to show my students how to push beyond the traditional rules of theory and writing through experimentation.

About Dominic

I started studying music in the fourth grade when I played clarinet in the school band. A couple years later, I began playing guitar and developing my musical identity by teaching myself to play songs by Nirvana, The Beatles, Green Day, and Hendrix. In high school, I took part in a yearly Rock 'n'

As a teacher with more than 12 years of teaching experience, I love helping students learn to love the process of exploring their instrument. I see learning music like learning a language and becoming more fluent the more often you speak it. As a person who has struggled with my own perfectionism, I have learned how to better help myself and students navigate breaking down new music concepts/repertoire into smaller steps for success. I love answering questions and helping students identify the best methods to meet their musical goals!

I graduated from MTSU with a major in Vocal Performance, although I also studied piano, organ, education, and composition during my time there. "I've been taking piano lessons with Jesse for a few months, learning how to improvise. He knows alot about music theory and communicates the concepts clearly. I was surprised how much I learned in such a short time with him. He is clearly very experienced, and once I told him my music goals, he quickly put together a plan to help me progress. I continue to take lessons with him because they are enjoyable and I believe I am becoming a better musician."

"This product is a great idea !

I have been involved in music since the age of 5 on and off and I say off because I had to concentrate on suporting a family but now that I am free of that responsability I decided that it was time to continue so I found Emma and she has been the best teacher that a person could have and be associated with. She is professional yet not stuffy. I feel that I have advanced more in a little less then a year then if I had had someone else. Of course I realize that I wouldhave advanced even more if I had the time to invest more time in practicing. She has been very patient with me and when discoouraged she seems to always encourage and find the correct words to say. I can not praise her enough."

How to Tell if Your Old Piano is Worth Restoring

Here, Katy, TX music teacher Zachary A. shares his advice...   A piano is not only a part of the art of music, it is also a work of art itself. The machine is extremely complex and has thousands of moving parts. The piano is also one of the few instruments out there that has stood the test of time …
