About Kait
Kait K. has been teaching singers of all ages and abilities since 1997. She has taught in public schools, colleges and universities and privately in San Diego & Los Angeles, CA and Salt Lake City, UT. She has owned and operated The Performer Studio (a production company for high quality vocal productions) since 1997 and is the director of Salt Lake Singers Academy.

As a teacher, Kait's focus with each student is to help them understand both the anatomy and health of their vocal instrument and to help them tap into their very best sound in an engaging and fun way.

Kait: "Every singer has stumbling blocks. It is my passion to help them identify those, understand them and then...shatter them. Singers are complex people with complex instruments, and no matter what our expertise level, the DESIRE to sing is something to be protected an
d nurtured. I value honesty, discipline and detail work in the singing studio. I find those three things, meshed always with a genuine sense of FUN, are the keys to helping singers unlock and develop what makes them unique artists with something to say."

Professionally as a singer, Kait has headlined her own blues band, sung in several cover bands and also performed as a featured lead vocalist alongside John Lee Hooker Jr. (Blues Grammy artist nominee) on his western tour of the U.S. Kait was the lead singer and co-songwriter for the band Light Vizion and co-produced the band's debut album "Looking For An Angel" and can be heard as the solo vocalist on the album "True North" by Tristan Moore. She is currently a freelance vocalist in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has sung lead and solo in a large variety of venues, including Capitol Theatre, Abravanel Hall, Rose Wagner (Jeanne Wagner Stage) and several local clubs and restaurants as well as festivals and outdoor concerts including the annual Scarecrow Festival and the Brown Bag Concert Series and Furry Fiesta Fundraiser! While in Los Angeles, Kait performed in numerous clubs and blues music venues, including The Brown Derby, The Blue Cafe and BB Kings in Hollywood. She has also worked as a professional singer for several years in the Los Angeles Music Industry where she performed in several bands and worked as an in demand "session" singer (someone people hire to come in and quickly record vocals for various professional and experimental projects).

Kait's education as a singing performer includes a B.F.A. from the Actor Training Program at the University of Utah, an M.F.A. in Musical Theatre Performance from San Diego State University plus 5 years post-grad study in Los Angeles training in voice with world master voice teacher, Edward Sayegh.

In 2004 Kait returned to her roots in Salt Lake City, UT to continue both her singing and teaching career. She continues to write, arrange and record as a freelance singer, and has appeared as the featured vocalist with groups like Children's Dance Theatre and Ririe-Woodbury as well as other local blues and rock bands.

Kait: "My goal with each student is to help them to become the very best they can be as singing performers. But in addition, I aim to lift their spirit during the time they spend here, so that when they leave for the day, after the work they've done, they feel better, more inspired, more empowered and more confident and driven than they did when they arrived at my door. Teaching and watching my students evolve as both artists and people is thrilling! I have the honor of watching them find themselves through music while they build truly lifelong friendships with the performing peers they meet in the classes and performances they participate in here...they end up finding some of their 'kindred spirits' in life here, and that is something that is priceless as an artist."

Kait provided a very thorough grounding regarding breathing and breathing apparatus at the first lesson. This is exactly what my granddaughter needed to enable her to move forward. My grandchild was very satisfied when she left the class.

I have a BM from Appalachian State University in piano performance and music theory/composition. I also have an MFA in music composition for the screen from Columbia College Chicago. I studied abroad in Ireland for a summer and learned traditional Irish music. I've been playing piano and composing since I was a young child, and picked up folk instruments along the way. Connor is an excellent teacher. I worked with her via Skype for over a year. I played accordion as a child and wanted to get back into it as an adult. She helped me build my confidence and my proficiency around playing the accordion. She went through a lesson book that I purchased on my own previously. She arranged music for me so I could play more contemporary songs that my 3yo daughter would recognize. She worked with my schedule. She has a lovely personality. She is very encouraging. She is amazingly talented in music. And I couldn't recommend a better teacher. I wish you all the best, Connor! Thank you for everything!

About Chris
Are you interested in being able to confidently play lead and rhythm parts in a band? Want to learn to write songs? Want to learn to just strum along to your favorite records by yourself? I will teach you or your child all of the knowledge and tools needed to do whatever your dream is on your instrument. My aim is to help every student achieve their personal goals on their instrument within the context of a relaxed and patient environment that promotes a love of music!

I achieve this by:

1) Individualizing lesson plans so that each student stays engaged and learns in the style that is best for them as learners.

2) Ensuring that students learn BOTH how to play their instrument as well as the theory behind what they are playing. This creates a more well-rounded musician that is capable of problem solving on their instrument an
d being able to play in a variety of settings.

I have been playing music for over 10 years and teaching private lessons since 2014. My professional performance experience includes solo guitar gigs, rock band shows, musical theatre pit work, dance band playing, plus various gigs in Nashville, around the Eastern United States, and even in Scotland!

I graduated from Belmont University in the Spring of 2018 with a degree in Commercial Music, so I have had the "conservatory training" in regards to music theory and history, but before college I was largely a self taught player and am now a professionally performing musician here in Nashville.

Chris is an awesome teacher! I have been taking lessons with Chris for a few months. I had spent quite an extended period studying with other instructors but Chris is still helping develop me to a better musician and guitar player. Have been working on some ear training stuff that other instructors maybe would not have taken the time to work with me on! Working on hearing and playing the divided sky by phish right now not an easy piece of music. Also working on more phrasing and country blues licks and theory. I would definitely recommend Chris to anyone👍🎸

I am likely the oldest student Chris is currently teaching, with a brain that doesn't soak up the material like the youngsters.
He is a very skilled musician in his own right, but most importantly, he is very patient and presents the material in a way that I can grasp it.
The atmosphere is relaxed and I always look forward to me next lesson.

A little about me personally: I am a native Wisconsinite, an avid cellist, and lifetime music lover. I have been teaching cello lessons privately off and on for the last 9 years and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire.

In my school years, I participated in the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras, as well as Wisconsin School Music Association’s High School Honors Orchestra, and the Honor’s Performance Series High School Honors Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Throughout those years, I also competed in Solo & Ensemble both regionally and at the state level.

In college, I served as principal cellist in the University Symphony Orchestra, and also played with the department’s premier quartet, the LE Phillips String Quartet. I participated in these ensembles in addition to the Baroque
Ensemble and Contemporary Ensemble, along with other various chamber ensembles and as featured soloist with the Singing Statesmen.

Throughout high school, college, and post-college I have had private students of all ages; elementary, middle, high school, and adult. I also coached sectionals for cello and bass at a local middle school.

My passion is to get kids (and adults!) excited about music and provide one-on-one instruction to students to kindle their love of music and of cello, and spark their curiosity to go deeper into music. So if your student, your child, or you are interested in studying cello privately, let’s get the ball rolling!

Additionally, I have a Grades 2 & 3 Director's license in the state of Wisconsin through my minor in Library Science through the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire. I am currently working on a Master of Library and Information Science through the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee with an emphasis in Public Librarianship, and have served on the committee for the Wisconsin Center for the Book to select Wisconsin's 2018 Best Children's Book for the National Book Festival. Additionally I have worked with local libraries in their Summer Reading Programs, promoting literacy and reading. I am passionate about reading and getting kids excited about books and learning!

Hi! I have a passion for teaching and playing the piano (of course!) and I want to share it with you. I am my happiest when I am teaching, and I strive for all of my students to experience the equally rewarding joy of learning the piano.

I have been playing since I was 3 years old and taking lessons since I was 5. I graduated with a degree in Piano Performance from BYU, where I learned so much more than just playing the piano. I have experience teaching studio and online lessons, accompanying and collaborating, tutoring students during practice, and playing for weddings and events.

Outside of music, I love dogs, being in the sunshine, and cooking and baking. My favorite pastime is being with my husband and dreaming about getting a puppy.

I love teaching and playing the piano with joy and creativity. I took piano myself from first grade until Sophomore year in college. My instructors taught me a tremendous amount and I am thankful for what I know . But the years were long, I don't remember any laughter or any choices, teachers were harsh and unforgiving. Piano lessons don't have to be that way. If a student is not looking forward to a lesson then I am doing something wrong. Music and the process of learning should be a beautiful experience filled with wonder and fun along the way. I teach in the " classical" method as in you will learn about theory, how to read music , technique and performance etc. What is not " classical" about how I teach is this fundamental philosophy, the lesson is about the student, not about completing a preset agenda. . It's YOUR lesson, I guide
, I teach , I know when to push and when pull back a little. Music is like the ocean it is deep, broad and seemingly endless, therefore so are the possibilities . You will play the music YOU want to learn no two days or students are alike , no two lessons are alike. In 10 years of teaching, I have never been tired of my work, it is truly play !
