Directed toward beginners, my approach will focus on simple music structures, basic fingering techniques, and other fundamentals while learning how music is built and structured. Students will play from simple music charts as well as learning to develop a musical "ear." Music theory is an understanding of how music is a composite of related components which is critical for interpreting, learning and performing. Piano is learned in the context of a music theory framework.

My 6 year old is well... a 6 year old but Dr. J is so patient with her and has already taught her so many new skills in just a few short lessons. He keeps the lessons fun but is able to refocus her on her lessons. Dr. J is an overall amazing musician that is very skilled in a variety of musical techniques. He is also very professional and extremely reliable (even in inclement weather). I would recommend Dr. J to any family that is wanting their child to learn how to play music.

I started playing piano at age seven when my mother enrolled me in lessons. I have been playing ever since, and I absolutely love it. I began teaching private piano lessons in 2003, and have taught many thousands of lessons since that time. I have experience accompanying choirs, instrumentalists, and vocalists, as well as playing as a soloist in various piano competitions and recitals. I recently began taking lessons in jazz piano, a genre I never learned much about. I believe it is never too late to learn something new, and I am excited to start this new chapter of my musical life and to use this new knowledge to enhance my own teaching.
In my piano lessons I use the Faber's fabulous Piano Adventures series. In my opinion, they are the best books on the market, emphasizing reading by intervals as opposed to memorizing note names. This method minimizes student frustration while also decreasing the amount of time it takes a student to read a new song. Piano Adventures also focuses ...

I like to teach through a series of books by Nancy and Randall Faber, and Arthur's Adult Piano. Each of these are very different in approach so it really depends what your goals are so I can start you on the right books. This also depends on what you want to get out of your lessons. Do you want to learn pop songs? arrangements? Or do you want to learn classical pieces? I ask you all these questions and more at our first lesson to make sure you and I are both happy with the direction we will take.

I have designed each of my lessons to be like pieces of Legos. Starting from lesson one each lesson fits the next. This eliminates and confusion and gaps in my students knowledge and technical skills. I make everything simple, easy to understand and apply.
I define Music as the science or study of sound in relation to melody, harmony and rhythm. Once I get my students to understand each of these elements and how they work individually and together sky is the limit.
About Paskinel
My method of teaching is simple, I teach Understanding not memorization. When you memorize you can only perform, however, when you understand you can both perform and create. My goal is for my students to acquire an understanding of music that will enable them to not only hear, read and perform b
