Justin is the quintessential professional in every way. His approach is to make you a better student of music not necessarily just learn guitar. He is patient with you and very positive and reinforcing. The passion he has for music is obvious from the first time you meet him. As with any good manager, just by the way he teaches, makes you want to be a better student.

My first lesson with Justin went well. I have social anxiety so meeting new people is always a stressful experience for me. I was much more comfortable than expected and learned a lot. I definitely recommend Justin if you are looking for lessons in any of the areas he offers.

In that time, I've played many roles alongside a wide range of established and emerging talent, from around the world, including band leader, accompanist, music producer, composer, arranger, co-writer, teacher, coach and mentor. Along the way, I have continued to pursue my passion for education, teaching private music lessons to amateurs, professionals and hobbyists from all walks of life.

About Alan
Beginner, intermediate and advanced are all welcome. I give the same attention to teaching amateurs as I do professionals.

I believe that learning music should be as fun and inspiring as it can be to play. We all have a vast wellspring of creative energy within us, and the goal of the relationship between the student and the teacher is to help nurture and develop that latent talent. For this reason, my approach to teaching music is highly individualized. I start out with the premise that the student has unique gifts and my job is to help them discover what those are, and develop and refine them in order to make beautiful and deeply satisfying music, through whatever instrument and in whatever style they are drawn towards.

Depending on one's starting level of experience, some basic exercises will be assigned to develop core skills, with increasing levels of technical challenge and complexity. Elements of music theory will be woven into practical lessons. Students will have the choice to incorporate material from popular and familiar music into their studies, and as they progress they will be encouraged ...

About Sean
I began teaching acoustic guitar and voice lessons in 1984, also offering harmonium and tabla lessons a few years later. Some of my students have approached music mainly for personal enjoyment and deepening their self-identity, while others have used the skills they learned in their careers.

I've found that in order to be a successful teacher, I must be patient and compassionate, and try to always put myself in the shoes of a learner. I feel my greatest teaching strengths come from listening to my students, as well as drawing from my experience as a singer-songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist.

I'm grateful for my exposure to the music of different cultures, especially the fascinating polyrhythms of traditional African drumming and the deeply moving melodies of Indian Classical music. I had the good fortune to study these disciplines int
ensively with Master Teachers during my time at Dartmouth College, at Wesleyan University, and through independent studies in India. My teacher training at Pacific Oaks College further deepened my appreciation of cultural diversity as well as my sensitivity to different learning styles.

This experience has enriched my own compositions, as well as my ability to connect with learners from diverse cultural backgrounds, and to help guide people in developing a personal style free from artificial boundaries of genre.

Currently, I'm working on recording an album of original songs based on the poetry of Rumi, Hafiz and other mystics.

That bone crushing riff, the iconic solo, an instantly recognizable reverb-laden intro: everyone has guitar hero fantasies, and it's my goal to bring students from 'if only I could play that' to actually playing. But I go further than just teaching riffs and solos: I focus on learning songs and teaching basic chord and scale theory to develop technical ability and improvisational technique. I also believe learning is exponentially easier when students enjoy the songs they play, so ideally all learning material is based off of the student's individual music library. I aim to help you get that song out of your head and into your hands.

About Cole
I'm a student at Washington University by way of Chicago. I currently play bass in a jazz combo on campus, and also trade off roles as guitarist and bassist for a house band for a sketch comedy show. I've been playing for over ten years, and have been teaching lessons back home for the last three.

I spent the last four years working for Reverb.com, the world's largest online musical instrument marketplace, where I contributed guitar-related web content and served as an authority on vintage guitar knowledge.

Kwame is a great instructor!! He is knowledgeable about the craft he teaches and is great at explaining things in a comprehensible manner. I enjoy giving lessons tailored to each student's needs and goals. From those who have never picked up a guitar to those who are auditioning for a major music college, I love to help others learn how amazing the guitar is.

My style is geared toward the individual, but I do specialize more in teaching: songwriting on guitar, music theory on guitar, developing great technique, how to read notes and tab on guitar, and learning my student's favorite songs and adapting them to fit their skill level.

I have been teaching guitar for over twelve years, and have professional songwriting experience (over 50 compositions published), band and recording experience (major radio-play in America and Europe), and I am classically trained and have a degree in music.

Let me help you achieve your music dreams!

An experienced guitar player of 13 years. Especially good with beginners including both very young and older students. It's never too early or late to start playing! Will cater a specific personal lesson plan to your desires to make sure we move at YOUR best pace. We'll build a solid foundation so that you can learn how to teach yourself and continue to grow and love music long after these lessons. We can get you up and running with your favorite tunes or start delving into the musical theory side of things. I make sure that our lessons are fun but also challenging and I make sure we spend some time learning how to build finger strength, how to improvise, and (most importantly) how to play with other musicians! Let's Rock 'n' Roll!

About Joe
Hi there! I've been playing guitar for over 13 years. Throughout those years I've been in many many bands. The first started in my buddy's garage (because his parents actually bought him a drum set!). I've been taking lessons ever since I was in 7th grade and love playing all different genres of music. Nowadays, I am a music student at SIUE studying Jazz Guitar and teaching myself blues riffs. I write and record my own music and play around town as often as I can.

I love sharing the gift of music with others and seeing the look on students' faces when they play their favorite songs. I am extremely patient and guarantee I can teach even the most stubborn students. I am also very flexible when it comes to lesson plans. The first thing I like to do is sit down with the student and determine his or her own goals. Do you want to learn your
favorite songs? Or maybe you want to learn how to improvise and solo like your favorite guitarist. We will definitely focus on learning to play with others. After all, music is meant to be shared!

If your one of those people who has some experience with the guitar but maybe you've put it down for a while and want to jump back in, then I'm your guy. You've already got some knowledge and muscle memory. Let's work with that and get you rockin' again.

If desired, I can offer crash courses in recording your own music, singing while playing, and how to get started writing your own songs. Really I'm here to help you get where you want to be. And if you don't know where to start, don't worry! I've been there too and would love to be the one to get the ball rolling with you. Playing an instrument will be one of the most fun and rewarding experiences of your life.

Flamenco guitar lessons with Raphael are unique because he grew up, and studied in Spain. And knows all the secrets that you can only learn by living, and working with some of the best Flamenco artists of today. He can teach you how to accompany singing, and how to accompany dancers. As well as teaching full solo pieces. He has been playing guitar for over 25 years, and has toured the world. As well as playing in the opening ceremonies in Barcelona for the 1992 Olympics. He has worked artists such as El Farruquito, El Toromb, and El Manzanita. Just to mention a few. Raphael also speaks Spanish, German, and English. And is a very patient teacher, and gives great attention to detail.

About raphael
Hi! My name is Raphael, and I am a Flamenco guitarist. I've been playing for over 25 years, and lived in Spain for over 10 years. I have had the pleasure of traveling the world playing guitar and working with some of the best Flamenco artists from Spain, as well as here in the U.S. I am a full time guitarist, and if I'm not performing, or accompanying Flamenco dancers who come here to give workshops, or if I'm not composing new music, I am usually teaching. I love being able to pass on my experiences as a Flamenco guitarist to my students. I try and emphasize the importance of rhythm, and the accompanying of the singer. Which in Flamenco is the most important element. I also teach solo pieces for the student who only wants to play solo guitar.

I have been taking Flamenco Guitar lessons with Raphael since I moved to New York. It has been a wonderful experience! There are a few things about him that set him apart from other teachers i have worked with:
1. He is extremely patient - but at the same time points out when you are not in compas. If you have played flamenco before you know how important it is to get that correct - and he holds you accountable to the compas which is very helpful.
2. He intermixes exercises and falsetas in a helpful way. My fear with flamenco is that I wind up with a lot of falsetas that I can't really play right. Raphael is not afraid of giving you some exercises to grind on to get your techniques and timing up to par.
3. He is well connected in the NY flamenco world so you know what is happening and can hear a lot of flamenco out in the city.

My experience has been delightful. If you are looking to learn flamenco guitar and want to sound authentic and in compas- I would recommend Raphael unreservedly. Also he is a great guy to spend time with which is always a plus!

Beyond his obvious expertise —reason enough to seek out his teaching!—Raphael is patient, highly attentive teacher, with an excellent (and fast!) eye for details... As well, he’s a very, very nice guy!
