Lessons are fun. My philosophy is that students should have music in their lives and benefit from the lessons they take now for years to come. Learning to play a musical instrument will help students with math skills, study habits, and develop a skill that will last for a lifetime.
After 3 months students will understand the fundamentals of their string instrument, know how to care for their instrument, warm up properly, be able to read and play introductory passages. After 6 months the student will have learned basic music theory, how to read music, and have advanced through playing multiple songs.
About Betsy
Music is the biggest passion in my life. I love being able to share that gift with my students, and look forward to their progress as much as my own. I continue to grow and develop as a musician, and love connecting with people through music. My students all learn to love and appreciate music, t

I have been teaching violin since 1998. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I presently teach music at 3 schools (1 college) and only have a few lessons slots available. I look forward to working with you.

I have played the violin since 7th grade- about 9 years ago. The violin is a very soothing and elegant instrument that can make beautiful sounds and can also wake up someone’s attention. I have played in FiestaVal in Tennessee and I did orchestra for two years in middle school. Currently going to college for vocal performance and orchestral performance. I would like to teach those who are interested all that I know about this great instrument, whether it be a beginner, or a returning violin student.
About Oresmary

Barbara Sydney's mom"

I am greatly pleased with the progress I have consistently made in playing the violin through Jonathanâs help. Jonathan has helped me to improve my bowing, string crossing, intonation, rhythm, musicality, and playing 3 octave scales, arpeggios, etudes, Suzuki selections, and classical orchestral music. It is always very clear what to work on during the week."

I've recently had the pleasure of taking violin lessons with Clare for eight months. I am an adult violin student and before I took lessons from Clare I had virtually zero previous musical training. Clare was the perfect teacher for me. She kept me interested and motivated to learn. Her lessons were well thought-out, well taught and, just as importantly, they were just plain fun. Because of Clare I feel like I have an excellent foundation from which to continue my learning. If I wasn't moving away because of a new job I would definitely still be taking lessons from her.
As an adult, I was kind of nervous to start learning a musical instrument, especially one as tricky as the violin. Clare helped me immensely. She's a wonderful teacher."

My 11-year-old son has been taking violin lessons with Travis for a couple months now and loves it! Travis always has a smile on his face, comes on time, and is professional. My son had zero experience with this instrument before; so it was important for me to find a teacher who is patient, and Travis definitely is. He has a good sense for when his students are ready for a little push or need some extra attention in some spots. I highly recommend him!"
Her deep understanding of music and experience teaching has enabled her to explain techniques with relatable analogies.
Two thumbs up for Jill!"
Popular Violin Articles from our Blog
One of the main concerns that violin students and their parents typically have is purchasing the right-sized violin. Obviously you can't give a five-year-old a full-size violin and expect him or her to be able to handle the instrument. And once kids are in their teenage years, trying to keep up with growth spurts can be extremely difficult, especially considering how much violins cost. Even adults can run into problems when selecting the right size. Fortunately, after a little research, selectin …
