My youth was spent in Eastern Europe which meant cold winters. With that came mom’s teaching on how to make a scarf, a blanket, a coffee mug wrapper, socks and sweaters.
Though nowadays it may be counterproductive to knit, there is no better way to show someone you love than something that is handmade by you.

You will learn how to cast on, how to form the knit and purl stitches, how to increase and decrease, how to read a pattern, how to read a yarn label, and about fiber content. First projects will include: a scarf, beanie and shawl.

With the knitting lessons, we'll start out learning how to prepare your piece, read basic patterns, learn how to cast on and off. We'll go through the basic stitches (knit and purl), and how to use them to make a scarf.

As a long-time knitter and 8th grade English teacher, I know that to learn a skill you need to hone your excited energy and jump right in with personalized guidance. I can help you learn to revel in the knitting process while also creating stunning, hand knit scarves, socks (yes, socks!), shawls (even the Wingspan shawl), and hats to start or continue in your knitting journey. I will be sure to craft our lessons to be exactly what you need to grow and flourish. I've been teaching knitting for 7 years and my students have gone on to create bags, scarves, headbands, and bracelets. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to complete a headband or scarf and as time goes on you'll be able to knit a hat in the round. I specialize in working with heavy weight yards and creating a funky, wildly textured projects. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

I am an experienced knitting teacher and am certified to teach knitting by The Knitting Guild Association (TKGA) and the Craft Yarn Council of America. My goal is to educate and preserve for future generations the appreciation of hand knitting as a fiber art that provides stress relief, is a creative outlet, and provides a sense of accomplishment.

I truly enjoy teaching others to knit and have enjoyed 15 years of helping new knitter's confidence soar and creativity grow while teaching knitting in various venues throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties including Pasadena City College, Monrovia Adult School, the City of Santa Fe Springs, City of Glendale, City of Orange and City of Whittier.
