I teach the basics of learning acoustic guitar technique including: Selecting an appropriate guitar for the student, correct holding of the guitar, finger and hand placement, guitar notes and scales, guitar tablature, reading and playing guitar chords, strumming and picking, playing guitar songs from most genres and music theory. I also teach electric bass guitar and ukulele, beginner through intermediate. I teach guitar in most genres of music (except hip-hop and rap). I have been playing acoustic guitar since I was 10 years old, and have a great deal of experience in playing most genres and techniques, I am used to accompanying groups of people in different settings on the guitar. I learned to play ukulele as one of my first instruments. I learned to play electric bass guitar in stage band and in a rock group in high school. I love the guitar and it is one of my favorite instruments because of its versatility.

It has been truly incredible to witness my fiance transform in a few short weeks from someone scared of learning a new instrument to someone who is confident that he can learn a new skill provided he puts in the time and effort to practice and show up! Michael has given him the confidence and the inspiration to make amazing progress as a student.
I highly recommend Michael as an instructor. He really makes the virtual format work and he knows how to introduce beginner musicians to the joys of learning how to express yourself on an instrument.

I have been teaching guitar for 1 year and my students have been able to create and write their own songs, play in bands, and perform out. Within the first few lessons, you will be able to learn how to form and learn chord names and as time goes on you will be able to play full songs. I specialize in genres such as pop/rock/folk and provide beginner level books for students to work on. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and cannot wait to meet you!

My son has been taking lessons with Michael for about a year, and we are both very satisfied customers. When my son first came to Mike, he was anxious about his upcoming audition for the top jazz band at his school. Mike helped him prepare and feel more confident, and he was able to earn his place in the band. Since then Mike has worked with him on technique and style and helped him progress incredibly. Mike is a great teacher, very professional, and a super person!"

I am a visual person so his method makes perfect sense to me, just have to get the
fingers to keep up with my brain. I was afraid it might be the other way around, so am pleasantly surprised. Now, practice begins."

I've been playing bass for literally decades, and when I needed to get my guitar playing up a level, I took lessons with Omar. Very useful overall, Omar knows his stuff and is excellent at communicating it. We were able to talk about chords, modes, improvisation and songwriting, covering everything I needed. I would recommend Omar highly."
