I learned from some great musicians out west that the ukulele can be really fun and have more range of notes too when tuned GDAE as a violin would be tuned. Ever since I learned that I have loved playing the ukulele and also have fun helping others to become well versed in playing many styles of music on there. One can play rhythm, melodies, improvise, write songs, play almost any style of music on a ukulele.

About Tara

I have a Masters in Education as well as having spent many years performing, teaching in one on one and group settings both privately and at music camps and festivals. I play and teach bluegrass, old time, blues, folk, Irish, and swing jazz styles. I like my students to really enjoy playing music a

About Patrick

Hello there! My name is Pat, I live in Nashville, Tennessee (US) and I absolutely love playing the guitar! Besides studying the instrument over the past 16 years, I've played in countless bands and have performed in over 1000 shows in my lifetime. Some notable concerts I've played: Bonnaroo, Austin

Super helpful first lesson!
Ali
I know more about the guitar than I ever thought I would, thanks to a Patrick. He is so patient with me and knows exactly how to teach me so that I remember and understand. I originally started taking lessons to be able to play a few songs around a campfire and now I can play whatever song I want because he really taught me to read music and know chords. I’ve been taking lessons for less than 6 months and I am farther along than I even thought possible. I would recommend Patrick to anyone and everyone wanting to learn guitar. He is incredible and such a great teacher!!!!!!
Heidi
Patrick is extremely knowledgable which makes learning from him really fun and engaging. He not only teaches you how to play, but teaches you the why behind every chord and how it relates to other things you've already learned. He's patient, fun to learn from and will help you reach your goals. I can guarantee there is no other teacher out there who knows more about this instrument — he's definitely worth the investment!

I've been teaching ukulele for 4 years helping students develop a love for the instrument and learn more about music along the way. Ukulele is a great instrument for an introduction into stringed instruments and as a casual pastime, but when pursued seriously can be as rigorous as any other. Within the first few lessons you'll have a solid base of strumming patterns and chord changes and even a few simple songs under your belt. Moving on from there I will craft lessons to move you toward a "goal song," making sure to cater your progress to your needs while keeping a focus on good technique. I enjoy working with students of all ages and experiences and I can't wait to meet you!

About Ryan

Ryan is a musician from Logan Square who plays a plethora of different instruments. He specializes in guitar, banjo, mandolin and ukulele, but also dabbles in accordion, piano, drums, harmonica and several others. Something about the freedom in the framework of four strings seems to make the Ukulele limitless to me. The Uke and its history has always fascinated me, and because I have Hawaiian and Portuguese relatives I almost feel it my obligation to play ukulele. I've been playing Tenor, Soprano, and Baritone ukuleles for 10 years and with it, have written jingles for NBC, recorded three albums of world music inspired compositions, and have recorded and played with artists like Phoebe Bridgers, Cody Simpson, and Annika Bennett at the Kennedy Center and other venues around the world. I would love to teach you all chords and voicings up and down the neck, chord/melody parts (so you can provide both the harmony and melody simultaneously) and teach you all your favorite songs with simple and emotional finger picking and strumming patterns that'll never go out of style. Let's fill in all the gaps together and work on your ear training so you'll be able to hear any song and immediately be able to ...

About Taylor

Aloha. My name is Taylor. I'm 24 and have been seriously playing the ukulele for 10 years. Some would consider "serious" and "ukulele" an oxymoron, but to me, ukulele can be one of the most emotional and endearing instruments. Because my primary instrument is piano I bring all of my harmonic and th

"I've taken ukulele lessons with Melissa for about 3 months now. As a beginner to music, Melissa is patient with me and builds on topics and techniques in such a way that I was able to grasp them. Not only have we covered chords, strumming, and rhythm on the ukulele, but she taught me about music theory as well (which was unexpected but I've enjoyed learning!). I would definitely recommend Melissa for ukulele lessons!"
