Private Guitar Teacher

I have loved learning and teaching guitar for over a decade. I have a really great method that will string you through the lessons you need to get you on your feet!

About Alex

I was passionate about music when I was younger, but I never had the tools to get where I wanted. Music was always a mystery to me and I got stuck learning from tabs and not stepping out of my circle of knowledge. It wasn't until I pursued music seriously that my love for the art really took off. "I've taken a couple of lessons from Trevor so far and they have been awesome. I've taken lessons from about 7 or 8 instructors in my lifetime and he is definitely one of, if not the best.
The thing that makes Trevor stand out to me is that he took the time to get to know what I wanted to learn and to figure out how I like to learn. He comes prepared to the lessons with material, answers any questions I have during the week by email and has worked with me to develop a specific education plan to meet my goals.
I suggest taking a trial lesson with this guy to see if you're on the same page. I am definitely not going anywhere else while I live in Austin."

"Paul has been the most amazing instructor. I have never played the electric guitar before and his level of patience has made it extremely easy for me to learn. He writes lesson plans and assigns "homework" appropriate for your level of experience which helps in learning or further developing your skill. I plan on continuing to take lessons with Paul for quite some time."

"I am a retired faculty/staff member of The University of Texas at Austin with degrees in education. An 8th grade teacher diagnosed me to be musically challenged, and I was told not to make an effort to learn music. After retiring I decided to get a guitar and try to learn something about music. I had been trying to learn how to play on my own, but I soon realized that I needed a teacher. The first teacher I tried could not answer my questions, and inspire progress. Aimee demonstrated a very high excellence in teaching proficiency in the first lesson. While in her studio I observed her teaching young students, and it was obvious to me that she could teach both young and older students equally well. Have confidence that you can learn music with Aimee's guidance."

"Amazing Teacher, my kids LOVE their lessons with Jordan!

My children have been taking lessons with Jordan now for just over a month, and they are loving it! My 7 year old son is doing Guitar, and he has learned to tune his own guitar and is able to play simple songs with 4 basic chords. My daughter who is 5 is taking Piano lessons with Jordan and is able to play 2 simple songs, and able to identify notes on the keyboard while reading music. I appreciate that Jordan teaches the actual music rules and reading of music as well as numbers for the fingers. He is great about having the kids hold themselves and their hands correctly, and having them keep trying something until they get it right and reinforcing the correct practice once it is right. I would refer anyone to Jordan to learn an instrument! He is amazing!"

Tips for Open Mic: 3 Ways Guitarists Can Shine

Guitarists, are you ready to hit the stage at a local open mic? Polish your performance with these tips from guitar teacher Samuel B.... Performing (like songwriting) is a craft at which any dedicated musician can excel. It requires no prerequisites – only the desire to share your talent and creations. My high school music teacher once said Thomas Edison misappropriated the original purpose of music by inventing machinery to record it – that nothing can replace your experience of seein …
