I have been teaching cello to students of all ages for over six years. I aim to tailor my teaching plans to each student’s unique goals and learning habits. I structure my lessons so that students learn and play what they enjoy, while also building a strong foundation of fundamental cello technique.

After graduating from the Juilliard School of Music I played with the New Jersey Symphony for 3 years and then moved to Switzerland where I was Principal cellist with the Beil Orchestra. I have spent 30 years teaching cello with good success. I enjoying helping students getting better. I teach the rudiments of the bow arm, bow grip and how to change the direction of the bow.

I teach beginner cello primarily using the Suzuki books, but supplement with other materials when needed. My students work on scales and rhythm constantly to improve their tone and musicality as well as technique. I teach classical, religious, fiddle, and more. I also teach group ensembles, trios, quartets, and I work with students on their school orchestral and audition pieces.

I love playing and teaching the cello, and I'm so excited to share that with you as you learn to play the music you've been hearing in your head. I'll work with you to create a personalized study plan that is engaging, positive, and progress-oriented. My teaching style is as slow as you need, as fast as you can go. Technique should always serve the music, so we'll focus on creating art and telling the story that you want to tell.

Lessons are open to anyone; even if you don’t have a cello yet! I have worked with beginning students learning the basics of reading music, to advanced players & colleagues looking for a careful ear. For learners under 10, I recommend 30-45 minutes. For all other players, there's no time limit; I love to go into details and can work as long as you want! I am a string specialist. That means I teach and play violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, ukulele and piano. I earned B.A. earned from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley Colorado where I was a double major in classical guitar and double bass. In my senior year I was the recipient of the Annual Concerto Contest where I performed the "Concerto in A Major" on double bass with the University orchestra for the spring concert. I have played in both professional and semi-professional orchestras in Colorado and Arizona. I believe that any student will practice more if he or she likes the music they are playing. Periodically I will ask a student to give me a name of a piece of music that they would like to learn how to play. I notate it for them, often simplifying the rhythm and chords in Finale NotePad and give it to them free of charge. I teach students how to play music on their given instrument.
