His flexible teaching style was responsive to my musical growth and interests. As we went, Andy sprinkled in some easy to understand music theory. I learned a lot of my favorite songs (including several out of the mainstream). He worked with me to adapt songs written for guitar to banjo. He also helped me to pick quality instruments that were right for me and my budget.
Highly recommend!

I try to teach in a way that best fits the student's needs. I really enjoy the "learning process" and love helping students find out how they learn best. Also, I make a point to have students progress in a natural way that allows them to be making music at every stage along the way.

I also have experience teaching music to students with special needs, including autism and total vision impairment. I begin accepting students for guitar at age 4 and teach students up to age 99+. The ukulele is a great instrument for any age, but especially good for very young students or folks with smaller hands that find guitar too challenging to handle. With lessons from me, you'll learn to read music and understand tab, develop your ear for hearing music (ear training), music theory, and technique with a goal of getting you playing your favorite style of music in the quickest time possible. I can teach you to play whatever style you wish. I can even help you learn to compose your own music! When you enter the market to buy yourself a new (or used) ukulele there are many factors to take into account: size of the uke, the type of woods used, the level of craftsmanship, and most importantly the price you’ll pay to get your hands on it. Is it the next level up, around $100-200? Or is it the tier where the inst …
