Actor, Director, Screenwriter, Darren Dowler has won multiple awards in entertainment. An actor trained in New York, he's also an L.A. film school graduate. Darren has appeared in film, television and on Broadway. Teaching for over 27 years, Darren owned THE ACTOR SHOP, an acting school first in Orlando then in Los Angeles. He is writing a book on acting, entitled THE ACTOR INSIDE YOU.

Also a director of multiple films, he has a unique perspective from both sides of the camera and stage. Studying multiple disciplines, he has developed tools to help actors of all levels reach their full potential.

"An actor must never stop training, growing and bettering their craft. As a person learns till they're last moments of life, so must the actor, lest he grow sedentary and wither. An actor like a muscle, must stay worked to remain strong and competitive."

Also an international recording artist, Darren also teaches Voice. He's performed with legends such as Bill Medley of the ...

Darren is an incredible acting Coach. I couldn’t recommend him higher. He goes so above and beyond with his time, his care and investment in you as an actor, his amazing guidance and how to truly delve deep into a character and a scene. Before I started taking with him, I was ok as an actor. Once I started working with him, I started getting callbacks and booking jobs and really started to grow and reach my full potential as an actor and I began to feel very confident about my abilities. If you take lessons with him, you will be so happy you did!!

It was such a pleasure to have my daughter working with Darren. He instilled confidence in her, taught her how to prepare herself to be an actor, and provided her with opportunities to show off her craft. THANK YOU! Darren for your time, help and support of our budding angel!! You are The Best.

I initially started with Darren in Orlando in 1990. Being a talent manager I wanted to understand acting better to better help my clients needs. After a few lessons I had learned so much that I required my entire client stable of about 25 people to take his class. He had to add an additional night to handle my people. In a couple weeks I saw incredible growth. In a few months I had the best acting stable in Orlando. My people were working.

Darren is one of the most talented actors and teachers I’ve ever come across. But he’s not the coach for someone who takes it lightly. He’ll work your butt off.

I pioneered a private Arts Academy drama school for 4 years, and am now teaching acting and directing at a middle and high school. My goal is to help students become well-rounded in all the areas that are needed to truly become a working actor. These areas include: auditioning, theater, film, and improvisation.

Being a repertory performer for Silver Star Playhouse (musical theater parodies), and having lots of experience and training in improv and interactive dinner theaters really trains you in comedy.
My husband also owns Sound waves Productions (technological advanced studio in Gilbert)- so completing remote voiceover work for a reel is not out of the question.

I also encourage students to pair in duos for effective scene work and more in-depth technique training (this will also split your lesson cost in half).

About Rebecca

Greetings! I am super excited to be building a private and small group lesson platform at our home studio and to meet your personal acting needs! I recently stepped down from 2 years of full time drama and art at Lumos Arts Academy- a private school I played a role in pioneering- to focus on bui

If you’re reading up on improv auditions and comedy shows in Chicago, you’re already on the right track, even if you know nothing. Auditions for improv groups can differ quite a bit from other kinds. The process can be intimidating but the possible rewards, namely lifelong personal friendships and pro …
