I like to work one-on-one with my students creating a team and program that will lead each one of them to achieve their goals.
Since each student is different I like to create and select the material for each student's needs.
Sometimes I suggest some books but I try to keep my students from spending too much money.

Professional teacher/musician since the 1970s. I teach beginner, intermediate and advanced students on guitar, ukulele, and tenor banjo. Style include Folk, Jazz, Fingerstyle, beginning Classical. Acoustic or Electric. If you're just getting started, I can give you a solid foundation and get you playing songs quickly. If you're a more experienced player I'd love to help you with ear training, reading, chords, leads, learning the fingerboard, college audition prep, and more … Let's set off on your musical journey!

I am care to keep people engaged in their hobbies. I can find unique ways to teach people from different angles. I have a lot of energy, and I'm always excited to teach.

Have you ever wanted to play an instrument or sing? Do you have a genuine passion for music? My lessons properly prepare students for what is needed to execute their journey as a musician. Lessons will be customized to meet the needs of the students. I have five years of teaching students from ages five to fifty and over twenty years of experience as a musician. Students will learn core music essentials such as music theory, ear training, sight reading, and more. And for songwriters I offer lessons on songwriting and structuring.

I have always been something of a mathematician at heart, and I believe in teaching students to apply that sort of methodical critical thinking to all aspects of music. I believe that music education should be goal-oriented, but that there are certain aspects of music that are fundamental whether the student wants to play funk, modern extreme metal, or to write the next atonal masterpiece. To this end, I always meet my students where they are and focus on where they want to go, addressing these fundamentals in a way that will be engaging for all.

I encourage students to delve into theory and technique deeply enough that they shift from being sets of rules to being a framework and a tool that can be used (and abused) as needed, and I seek to help my students build the mental and physical roadmaps that they need to achieve this goal.

I also teach lessons specifically designed to help students build confidence and understanding on extended range guitars.
