You will be guided by me through method books and also use supplemental materials I create to help you advance. You will learn the basic 5 positions of the instrument to increase your sounding range. You will learn orchestra skills including following a conductor and articulation and intonation, styles of expression, and rhythm. I have been teaching violin for 7 years. My students have won seats in school orchestras and spots in various music schools. I want to be your next instructor.

My teachings will assist you in working on orchestral repertoire, solo pieces and any other musical interest you would like to learn about. Students of mine have gone on to advance to audition-only groups.

Steeped with knowledge of music history, theory and composition, LisaJo has a Bachelor of Music Education from Eastern Illinois University, and extensive orchestral-performance experience as a violinist and conductor. During the past 40 years, she has developed her abilities as a diagnostician of obstacles in the musical learning process--both cognitive and physical.
While teaching students from age eight through adult, and enjoying all of them, LisaJo has become a recognized teacher of of the adult beginner and adult restart. She takes a very individualized approach with her students, recognizing technical and emotional components to each individual's learning process.
Although she has studied with teachers from various other violin lineages, her technique is based on the teaching of Carl Flesch and Ivan Galamian.

Hello to each of you! My name is Corey, and I have been teaching for 31 years. My primary professional instrument is cello, but started on violin at the age of 7. As I progressed as a child I played violin in the school orchestra setting, and cello outside of the school systems. Like many of you I've been locked up in my home because of Covid19. What fun! Not really... but I have been enjoying teaching 24 of my current private students. Additionally, I have been teaching music at a Waldorf School in Portland Oregon for 22 years. My work at the school has decreased because of the crisis and now I've been moved to 1/2 time. I'm so excited to expand my teaching studio, and have the opportunity to meet you. Positivity and encouragement are the cornerstones of my teaching style! All ages are welcome. Starting with technique and posture, lessons are then customized to include music theory, music history, ear training, and sight reading. I also teach how to effectively practice on your own, so you grow every time you pick up your violin. I can't wait to share my passion for music!

Maya joined the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra in 2007. After receiving her Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School in 2001, she became a member of the Honolulu Symphony. In Hawaii, she recorded with the prestigious Hawaiian singer Keali’i Reichel on his album Ke’alaokamaile, which was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2005.

A native of Japan, Maya received Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Tokyo University of the Arts. She attended seminars in Japan and England with the Amadeus Quartet and performed in both countries as a member of the Sunrise String Quartet.

In the United States, Shiraishi studied with Masao Kawasaki on scholarships at the Juilliard School, where she received a master’s degree in 2001. She has also studied with Garrett Fischbach from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Yoko Takebe from the New York Philharmonic.
