I have been singing in public since 1976 (professionally since 1993).

I use a very practical and simple approach. I like to teach the natural voice.

I have studied voice under the world’s most renowned teachers for 13 years. Now I want to share what I’ve learned with you.

Learning to improve your singing can be daunting, whether you’re auditioning for the lead in your high school musical or getting ready to go into the studio for a record you’ve been working on. There is so much poor information on the internet, horror stories of singers “ruining” their voices and needing surgery, and many vocal coaches claiming that every other approach to singing is “wrong.” I’ve studied under the most respected vocal coaches of in Pop and Musical Theater styles in the world, and what I’ve learned is that ...

I’m Jacob, a Juilliard-educated baritone singing and teaching around the world. I currently offer remote lessons from my home studio outside Washington, DC. I teach consistent, confident technique in any style—classical to contemporary—and welcome students of all skill levels and backgrounds. My only expectations are clear communication, dedication, and a commitment to vocal happiness and health.

I hold degrees in music from the Juilliard School (‘18) and Brown University (‘13). As a performer, I sang the 2019-20 season in Strasbourg, France, following my European début in Salzburg, Austria. I’ve sung in major houses including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu, and the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse.

Singing lessons with me is unique because I feel like I have been through it all, in the sense of going through many vocal teachers and experimenting with different techniques. After finding my teacher Michael Mayer, I have finally been able to feel free and comfortable in my singing and want to share this knowledge with everyone!
I am highly intuitive and am able to get in tune with the singer and recognize what is needed because I have such a strong vocal technique background as I've spent most of life searching for true vocal technique and so glad to have finally found it! And I must say I'm very passionate about the art of bel canto and therefore feel like I'm lucky to hold the knowledge of some great secrets especially living in Italy for over 16 years where I've been able to become fluent in the language and learn the spirit of bel canto!

I have studied this style of singing for over 20 years and I have taught Broadway and Musical singing as well as how to safely Belt for over 10 years. The technique is still from a classical background so all my students learn a variety of tools that will help them with this style as well as others. In all of my singing classes students learn technique, music theory, sight signing, and aural skills. They will also learn musicality and how to emotionally connect with their music.

I've been coaching Voice (Seth Riggs Method) for 10+ years and my students have gone on to score leading roles in theatre productions, as well as attain record label contracts. Within the first few lessons, you'll enhance range, breath support, control, pitch, and agility, and as time goes on you'll uncover the strong, healthy voice you were born with, connected from bottom to top! This vocal technique is key for singing Broadway!! Lessons are recorded, making practice 100% effective.
