My lessons adhere to classical pedagogy with an emphasis on reading notation, as well as applied ear training. Whether you haven't picked up the instrument yet, have been playing recreationally on and off for a few years, or study at the collegiate level, my approach builds student's classical repertory, tone production and voicing for all registers, fast technique, and accurate intonation. I always use a variety of fundamental exercises alongside pieces that teach what the student is working on

About Kyle

I don't just teach students how to play an instrument, I teach students important creative techniques for developing musical skills. Making music is a life skill that helps children and adults of all ages realize, develop, and utilize their expressive and creative talents. In my studio, I focus on

Overall, he's a fantastic teacher! My daughter always comes out of lessons with a smile on her face. He's inspired her to work hard and go from 10 minutes a day of practicing-- what her beginning band teacher prescribed, to 30 minutes to an hour. Kayla and I are both very thankful for the quality of his lessons as well as the motivation he gives her! Thank you!
Ben
Kyle gave me a few lessons during my college woodwinds methods class on the sax. As a pianist attempting to learn a wind instrument Kyle's advice and time were a HUGE help to a total beginner like myself. He definitely knows the sax inside and out and without his help my sax test grades in woodwinds would have been considerably lower than what they were. I definitely encourage any students looking for a sax teacher to choose Kyle because of his extensive knowledge on the instrument and approachable nature.
Jordan
Kyle has helped me with some very difficult passages in my solo repertoire! Incredibly helpful! I made a lot of progress in little times.

Ryan Pereira was the first private teacher I had on the clarinet. With his help, I managed to get into my district band for the first time, scoring high in my audition, I have bought three of his products (a ligature and a barrels) which work brilliantly, and his expertise on performance and technical knowledge has helped me grow in a positive way. In addition to all of this, Pereira has become a true mentor and an honest friend.

"I took lessons from Andrew for about 9 months. I’m an adult non-professional sax player who just wanted to continue to learn and work on improvisation. I felt the lessons were really well tailored to my situation and goals. Andrew recognized what my existing playing level was, including where I had some weaknesses. I improved a lot over a short period of time, and stretched my abilities in jazz improvisation. We did a lot of tune learning, transcription and ear training. Andrew is skilled at piano as well, so it was helpful when he would play chords and progressions on piano and have me work over the top of it to give me time to hear and experiment with feedback."

Choosing a Neck Strap | How to Play Saxophone Tips

Learning how to play saxophone starts with the right equipment--namely, a quality neck strap! Read on for some helpful advice from Brookings, SD teacher Carl S...    The saxophone is a unique instrument for many reasons.
