Meghan Faw is a professional violinist and Suzuki trained teacher in the Chicago area. An avid proponent of the Suzuki method, Ms. Faw sets high standards for her students and gives them the tools necessary to achieve their goals. Ms. Faw has over four years of teaching experience, primarily working with beginners. She is trained through Suzuki book 3 and will continue with book 4 this fall.
Lessons are customized with your goals in mind. If you want to become a professional violinist, or just want to learn how to read music and play your favorite tunes, Ms. Faw puts you in charge.
Ms. Faw graduated from DePaul University with her Master of Music degree in 2019. She also holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin (2017).

Much of my methods are derived from my doctoral dissertation studies in the field of Sports Psychology. I apply my teaching methods to develop and increase control of muscular and mental functions, accuracy, precision, discipline, mental awareness and overall coordination in violin performance. I am eager to share my knowledge and experience in sports psychology and to emphasize the general psychological benefits and contribution to human enrichment.

Why are you drawn to this instrument, piece of music, or performance situation? We will study all of the things you’d expect: scales, exercises, études, and repertoire. But I like to think I add more value than the notes on the page. And learning to play an instrument is all about reflecting your joy of playing it to the world! Precision is necessary but first is passion. This is why we always begin with enjoyment and engagement.

I consider the whole person I am teaching. I like to approach playing any musical instrument with the whole mind and body. You’ll learn how to most naturally hold and play your instrument with as much ease as if you were simply walking down the street. Only with ease can we play these instruments for life!

Experienced Music teacher of 8 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of their instrument and theory skills. I specialize in all styles. Typically, I use a variety of method books to pick from to meet the needs of the students. I also have many tools available to use during lessons.
