A healthy physical approach to the piano, a keen appreciation for sound, and a curious mind - these are qualities which I've been able to help cultivate in my students. You will learn how to play without tension, utilizing the body to the upmost capacity. You will learn how to create the sound you want with an instrument that can do almost anything you want it to. And all of this will be done with a constant mindset of discovery. I want to help you not only play the music you want to play but to appreciate more deeply music you already know and love. I accomplish this through a flexible method which fits the unique needs and desires of each individual student.

I have been teaching private Piano, Brass and Woodwind lessons over the last 10 years and have been a professional musician since I was in High School. I believe a balance of instrument playing, ear training, and theory are important in learning music. My experience allows me to help students build a foundation on their instrument and music knowledge that gives them the potential to have a lifelong appreciation and skill. This experience also allows me to cater to each individual student allowing me to manage each lesson towards their individual needs and desires.

Vibrant, upbeat teacher with 19 years of teaching experience. I teach all ages and abilities, specializing in early childhood, beginner, intermediate and early advanced. Every lesson includes theory practice with emphasis on note reading, technique, creativity and fun!

I can help you play by ear, as well as read music. Really, they both help each other out.

Typically lessons start with a warm-up or exercise, which usually relates to a concept in the songs or pieces we study in the lesson. Lessons can vary based on student goals and approach. For example, an advanced classical lesson might target specific spots in larger pieces, while a jazz/pop lesson might deal with hand positioning for chords and ear training. In a beginning lesson, we focus on either finding patterns on the piano that are used in most chord progressions or melodies, or music literacy, depending on the student's preference.

I teach according to the student's interest and learning experience. I keep the student engaged by discovering the deepest interests of the student and working toward those, while also maintaining the rudimentary essentials.

My lessons are unique because students learn almost every style of music. Bridging together elements of classical, jazz, Rock, R&B and gospel. I teach students that you can find elements of all styles in popular music.
