As we took a childbirth class from Christelle, you might say we took one of the most important classes in our lives from her! We honestly believe if we had not taken her class we would not have had nearly so positive an experience in natural childbirth, so much credit is due to her. Christelle prepared thoroughly for all our lessons, included interesting activities and personal anecdotes. Most importantly, Christelle made it clear that she cared not only about our grasp of the content but also about us as people. That made all the difference.

Christelle is very knowledgeable and personal at the same time. I like how she can draw a lot from her personal experience as well.

Taught American Sign Language (ASL) full-time and part-time (nights) for 39 years, just recently retired from full-time teaching. I have primarily used Signing Naturally (SN) workbooks, all levels. I have also used Learning American Sign Language (LASL).
Currently, I am teaching Deaf Culture as an online course at San Diego Mesa College.
I have been using ASL since I was 4 years old and I have attended California School for the Deaf, Berkeley (Fremont) and Riverside. I have received valuable experience from Deaf peers of Deaf parents, Deaf adults and Deaf leaders. In this sense, I am a native user of ASL and ASL Fingerspelled Signs.
Graduated from Gallaudet College (University) in Washington, D.C. with a B.S. in Business Administration. I received two Masters degrees from California State University, Northridge, one in Deaf Education and the other in Educational Administration. Just finished with my first lesson with Tony. Great guy; very personable! He explained some things I didn't know and encouraged me to keep at it. He also gave me some resources and helped me fine tune some of my signs. Wish we could talk more often. If you take a class with him, you won't be disappointed!!! Thanks Tony!

"Tony Slate is the reason I became a Deaf education teacher. Learning sign language from Tony was the best decision I have made. I learn under Tony for about three years while I was in high school. I firmly believe that my signing skills would not be where they are today if it was not for him. When I began college my signing skills were easily above the majority of the students begins at the same or even higher level than me. I would recommend lessons from Tony to any one that wants to learn American Sign Language. He is dedicated, passionate and knownadlage."
