Rachel is an amazing, encouraging, and patient piano teacher. As an adult picking up piano for the first time it was a bit intimidating to me, but she makes it fun and allows you to go at your own pace. You can definitely tell she has a passion for music and it comes across in the way in which she teaches.

Raycurt is not only knowledgeable, he is extremely skilled. He is thorough and maximizes time by providing superb instruction. My son looks forward to attending his classes; and I am a parent who is beyond pleased with Raycurt’s level of expertise.

This was a really unfortunate and wasted experience. Raycurt was wildly unprepared to teach. He brought a broken metronome and almost no sheet music/lesson plan. I had spoken both to the sales rep and Raycurt himself prior to the lesson and he was still fully unprepared.

I also explained my level of experience and was assured Raycurt was qualified to teach at the level I needed, but he came off as less knowledgable than me, which was particularly disappointing.

Worst of all, after multiple hours of speaking on the phone, I couldn't get my money back for this lesson.

I'd strongly recommend not using takelessons at all, they've put a horrible taste in my mouth for their entire service.

I am an pianist, improviser, composer, and music theory geek. I love jazz, classical, and rock music. Whatever style of music you want to learn, I will show you how to move toward your goals.

I love working with adults and kids alike! I can teach basic piano skills and classical technique, and for more advanced students I can teach jazz, improvisation, and composition. For every student, my goal is to make lessons fun by teaching you the music you want to play.

I have been playing the piano since preschool and have a B.A. in Music from the University of Minnesota.

Playing piano is one of my favorite things to do so I'd have quite a fun time teaching you. What I teach on piano will help you understand a diverse range of instruments and even genres, and, I think, teach lessons that carry over into life.

About Paul

I have played piano my whole life, and I also play guitar and trumpet. I love jazz, classical, contemporary, and rock music and many other diverse styles. I am an improviser, composer, and music theory enthusiast, very in touch with the creative side of music. I’m easygoing and patient. I put

My goal as a teacher is to share the love for music I have with my students. I use different methods for teaching as I find every student is different. I am skilled in but not limited to started beginner students. I always incorporate music theory and music history into lessons. There's room for parents to sit down and relax during lesson time as well.
Students will be required to purchase their first books.

About Lindsey

I began my musical journey at the age of 4, when I was enrolled in piano lessons. At the age of 10 I became interested in sharing my love for piano with others. So I apprenticed myself to Ruth Snowman, my piano teacher and assisted with group classes, recitals, and festivals. Once older I became

I teach piano both as a starting to other instruments and as a goal in and of itself. My method is to teach as much as I can in the learning style of the student. I have taught from every available piano method book out there. The goal is not to get through each book as quick as we can. The goal is to become a student who enjoys making music. The student and I work as much as we can during the lesson time on the understanding of the songs, method, style, and theory of music. Therefore, if a someone does not have much time for practice during a week, as happens for time to time, they will still learn and progress.

About Shae

I am an music instructor with 30 years of experience. I have a Bachelor's degree in Sacred Music with a major in Voice. I have been playing piano for 38 years with having been an accompanist for choirs and soloists and a pianist at weddings and churches. I am a believer that anyone can learn pia

My 2 girls started with Shae when they were 5 years old and both enjoyed their lessons. Shae is patience and good with kids. Even though we don't have the best schedule, the girls liked her so much I couldn't switch to a different teacher even though it could have saved me a few dollars too.

Shae is a great teacher, she is very patient, and my son enjoys his lessons. We have been with Shae for several years, and it has been fun watching my son's ability grow during that time.

"Serena isn't only a talented pianist, she's a skilled instructor as well. She teaches everything you need to understand piano theory, improve finger strength and agility and acquire the best hand posture.

Serena tailors her lessons towards her student. Depending on my weekly progress, she recommended a detailed routine to consolidate my weaknesses and push me to improve.

Finally, Serena is eloquent and friendly. She explains things in a simple manner and does her best to understand you, your lifestyle and your objectives, all to provide the best experience . And she totally nails it.

Thank you Serena! :D"

6 Piano Songs to Help You Learn Major and Minor Scales

Need to work on your major or minor scales? Piano songs abound by both classical and contemporary pianists that can help you improve your skills. Here, St. Augustine, FL Heather L. shares her recommendations.    Even as a piano teacher, I can be sympathetic to students who find themselves practicing major and minor scales over and over without any variation. Scales are often cited as the least favorite part of taking piano lessons. Sometimes, well, a lot of the time, the best way t …

Music Education: The Benefits of Music on the Brain | TakeLessons

What’s more human than music? From the beginning of human history, our ancestors have been organizing sound into meaningful melodies and rhythms. The lines between language and music are often blurred, as many of the same parts of our brain are used to process both phenomena. Even as babies, our cooing and babbling often have a rhythmic quality as we try to imitate our parents. On top of that, nothing soothes a restless child like a mother’s song!
